    摘要: This invention provides apparatus for securing a substantially flat lid closure member to an upwardly directed opening of a container partially surrounded by an outwardly directed substantially horizontal base flange means where a peripheral lip is provided around a portion of the outer edge of the base flange and includes a front lip, a rear lip and spaced apart side lips extending generally between the front lip and the rear lip and where the lid member is received within the lip means on the base flange to cover the container opening to retain a selected product within the container. The container is moved on conveyor means in a selected direction along a conveyor path. First side folder means are provided to fold the side lips over the lid. Orbital roller means are connected to shaft means above the conveyor path to rotate in an orbital path about pivot means at a selected speed so that at the bottom of the orbital path, the orbital roller moves in the direction of travel of the container to fold the rear lip inwardly. Roller means are located at substantially the same elevation as the base flange where the container is then passed under the roller means to fold the front lip down onto the lid means.

    摘要: A cutting device for cutting generally round objects into sections including a generally circular table adapted for rotation in a horizontal plane about a central longitudinal axis where the table includes at least one aperture of selected diameter greater than the diameter of the objects and located in spaced relation within the periphery of the table where the center of the apertures lie generally on a circle having a radius less than the radius of the table, object receiving stations located on the upper surface of the table, one receiving station being in generally aligned relation with each aperture of the table and including a deformable support means overlying the respective aperture and adapted to permit the object to be sectioned to pass therethrough, pusher means located above the deformable support to be selectively actuated to urge the object to be sectioned through said deformable support means and the cooperative aperture of the table, cutter means having at least one blade located in aligned relation with the pusher means whereby the object to be sectioned is pressed through the deformable support means and the associated aperture of the table means and downwardly through the cutter means to slice the object to be sectioned into a selected number of slices, and indexing drive means to rotate the table from a first position where the object to be sectioned is placed on the deformable support means to a second position where the deformable support carrying the object to be sectioned is located beneath the pusher means, and to actuate the pusher means to force the object to be sectioned through the deformable support means and the cutter means when the table is in the second position whereby the object to be sectioned is cut, and then to retract the pusher means from the deformable support means and rotate the table means.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for selectively supplying and placing a generally planar cover of selected peripheral configuration over a cooperative opening for container while the container is in motion where the opening is surrounded by an outwardly directed generally horizontal cover receiving first flange means where the first flange has an upwardly extending peripheral second flange adapted to fully receive the cover within the second flange so the opening to the container is surrounded by the first flange which is adapted to receive and support the cover around the peripheral edges of the cover within the second flange including: conveyor means to move the container along a selected axis at a relatively constant first velocity with the opening upwardly directed; cover supply means to supply a cover to engage the first flange and in a direction generally parallel to the direction of travel of the container from a location above the moving container so the cover is received on the first flange means within the second flange means; cover feed means to receive the cover from the cover supply means and feed the cover onto the first flange means of the container means at a selected second velocity where the velocity component of the cover in a direction parallel to the direction of travel of the container is in excess of the first velocity so the cover means engages the first flange and moves over the first flange in a direction parallel to the direction of travel of the container until the leading edge of the cover engages the front peripheral second flange and the cover is fully received within the second flange. Means can also be provided to bend a portion of the leading edge of the second flange over the cover.
