Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for identifying entities that are related to an entity to which a search query is directed. One of the methods includes receiving a search query, wherein the search query has been determined to relate to a first entity of a first entity type, and wherein one or more entities of a second entity type have a relationship with the first entity; receiving search results for the search query; determining that a count of search results identifying a resource containing a reference to the first entity satisfies a first threshold value; determining that a count of search results identifying a resource having the second entity type as a relevant entity type satisfies a second threshold value; and transmitting information identifying the one or more entities of the second entity type as part of the response to the search query.

Systems, methods and apparatus for invoking actions at a second user device from a first user device. A method includes determining that a first user device has an associated second user device; accessing specification data that specifies a set of user device actions that the second user device is configured to perform; receiving command inputs for the first user device; for each command input, determining whether the command input resolves to one of the user device actions; for each command input not determined to resolve to any of the user device actions, causing the command input to be processed at the first user device; and for each command input determined to resolve one of the user device actions causing the first user device to display in a user interface a dialog by which a user may either accept or deny invoking the user device action at the second user device.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for using location aliases. In some implementations, a query is received, and a user that submitted the query is identified. It can be determined that one or more terms of the query represent an alias for a user-specific geographical location that has not been designated for the identified user. In response, a prompt can be provided to the user to specify a geographical location corresponding to the one or more query terms, data indicating a geographical location is received, and data is stored that indicates that, for the identified user, the one or more terms are an alias for the geographical location. One or more search results responsive to the query are provided, where the alias corresponds to the geographical location input in response to the prompt.

A system determines search hypotheses for a search query, each search hypothesis defining a search type and respectively corresponding to a resource corpus of a type that matches the search type; for each search hypothesis, generate a hypothesis search query based on the search query and the search type and submits the hypothesis search query to a search service to determine a search hypothesis score, and for each search hypothesis having a search hypothesis score meeting a search hypothesis threshold, providing search results for the search operation performed for the hypothesis search query determined for the search hypothesis; and for each search hypothesis not having a search hypothesis score meeting a search hypothesis threshold, not providing search results for the search operation performed for the hypothesis search query determined for the search hypothesis.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for triggering music answer boxes. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a query, obtaining a plurality of search results responsive to the query, the search results being results from a search of web resources on the Internet, and determining from the plurality of search results that the query is a music query. Music data for a song responsive to the query is obtained, where the music data comprises a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of song content of the song on the Internet. A music answer box is generated for the query, where the music answer box comprises the music data and a link to the URL of the song content, and the music answer box is provided in addition to search results.
