Abstract: An electronic device comprises an image sensor, one or more processors, and memory storing instructions for receiving an event recording profile based on configuration data of the electronic device, the configuration data including a location type or a power type; receiving a plurality of images of a scene captured by the image sensor; detecting a trigger event based on one or more of the plurality of images of the scene; in response to detecting the trigger event, identifying an object of interest in one or more of the plurality of images of the scene; creating an event clip from the stored images that include the object of interest, wherein creating the event clip includes configuring a clip length based on the event recording profile; and providing the event clip for display.

Abstract: The disclosure describes techniques for interacting with visitors at a visitor interaction system. A method includes obtaining video data captured by the visitor interaction system, identifying an approach of a person, and analyzing the video data to determine an identity of the person. The method includes automatically and without user intervention determining that the person belongs to a visitor groups of a plurality of visitor groups. Each of the visitor groups corresponds to a response model that includes a plurality of response actions. At least one of the response actions includes an autonomous response action. The method includes identifying a response model corresponding to the visitor groups and initiating an autonomous response action associated with the response model. Initiating the autonomous response action including presenting a message to the person, monitoring a response to the message, and sending a report message to the user via a client device.

Abstract: Various embodiments of smart devices are determined herein. A smart device can include a housing and an electronic display. The smart device can further include a cover, housed by the housing, through which the electronic display is visible. The cover can include a glass layer, wherein the glass layer is the outermost layer of the cover that is adjacent an ambient environment of the smart home device. The cover can further include an optical coating layer, deposited directly onto a surface of the glass layer, that comprises a plurality of sublayers. The optical coating layer can include alternating non-metallic oxide layers having different refractive indexes. The sublayers can vary in thickness such that the optical coating layer reflects light from the ambient environment through the glass layer.

Abstract: In aspects, a visitor interaction system is described for interacting with visitors. The visitor interaction system can obtain video data, identify an approach of a person, and determine an identity of the person. Further, the visitor interaction system can determine that the person belongs to a respective visitor group of a plurality of visitor groups. Each of the plurality of visitor groups corresponds to a response model that includes a plurality of response actions. At least one of the response actions includes an autonomous response action. The visitor interaction system can also identify a response model corresponding to the respective visitor group and initiate an autonomous response action associated with the response model. The visitor interaction system can then send a report message to the user via a client device.

Abstract: Various arrangements for monitoring and controlling operation of a HVAC system are provided. Battery-operated temperature monitoring devices may be situated within the structure and connected with a network. A user command may be received that includes a selection of at least one of the battery-operated temperature monitoring devices. An offset may be calculated based on an evaluation of a first temperature reading of the selected battery-operated temperature monitoring device relative to a second temperature reading of the thermostat. The offset may be overridden when an override condition is present.

Abstract: A method for monitoring and controlling operation of a HVAC system within a structure comprises providing a thermostat configured to regulate the HVAC system. The method includes situating a plurality of battery-operated temperature monitoring devices within the structure and coupling the thermostat and each of the plurality of battery-operated temperature monitoring devices to a network. The method comprises receiving over the network a user command that includes a selection of at least one of the battery-operated temperature monitoring devices. The method includes computing at the thermostat an offset based on an evaluation of a first temperature reading of the at least one selected battery-operated temperature monitoring device relative to a second temperature reading of the thermostat. The method comprises applying the offset to the thermostat to cause the thermostat to regulate the HVAC system in view of the first temperature reading, and overriding the offset when an override condition is met.
