摘要: A sealed delivery system for dispensing metered volumes of a pure or sterile flowable substance is presented. Such system comprises a continuously sealing one-way valve assembly at a distal end, and a volume reducing reservoir at a proximal end, in which a pure or sterile flowable substance can be stored. In operation a user pushes down upon an actuator assembly, acting upon a metering pumping chamber in fluid communication with the reservoir via a check valve. Depression of the actuator causes a dispensing pump to push a metered volume of flowable substance through the continuously sealing one way dispensing valve assembly, and return of the actuator to its home state causes the dispensing pump to pull a metered volume of the contained flowable substance from the volume reducing reservoir and through the check valve.

摘要: Therapeutics and methods of treatment to repair, preserve and grow cartilage are presented. In addition, systems and methods for delivering a therapeutic to a hard to reach anatomical area, such as, for example, the BCI, are presented. A cannulated delivery device provided with a cutting tip, cutting flutes and threads on its distal end is disclosed, as well as therapies for joint and cartilage repair, preservation and generation using it. Alternatively, for disc repair, a “PIARES” device for Percutaneous Intradiscal Annular Repair introduces therapeutics intradiscally. The device may have two-needles; a first cannula/needle with a finger grip, and a longer inner needle to penetrate through the outer needle into the disc, and introduce therapeutics via a syringe. When provided with a septum at the inner needle's proximal end, the PIARES device is a completely closed system; using it minimizes trauma.

摘要: A percolating device includes a tank operable to hold liquid and having a top portion, a side wall, and a bottom portion. A strainer basket is positioned near the top portion of the tank and is operable to contain coffee grounds. A heating element is operable to heat a liquid contained in the tank and a tube directs heated liquid from the heating element to the strainer basket such that the heated liquid enters the strainer basket. A partition sealably engages the side wall of the tank and is operable to substantially separate liquid that has entered and fallen through the strainer basket from liquid that has not entered and fallen through the strainer basket.

摘要: A safety mechanism for aiding in the prevention of accidental or unintentional discharge of a needleless injection device having a power unit, a housing, a plunger disposed within the housing, a trigger assembly, and a nozzle. The safety mechanism includes a locking member which is disposed at least partially on the exterior of the housing. The locking member works in concert with the triggering assembly to the prevent movement thereof, thereby preventing activation of the power unit to eject fluids through the nozzle. The locking member also works in concert with an interlocking sleeve which prevents activation of the injector when the nozzle is removed therefrom. The safety mechanism also includes a feature for automatically returning the locking member to a locked position after activation.

摘要: A plunger/ram assembly adapted for a hypodermic fluid injector having a nozzle body defining a fluid chamber and an orifice communicating with the chamber. The plunger/ram assembly comprises a plunger adapted to be movably positioned in the chamber and a ram assembly. The ram assembly is operatively connected to the plunger for drawing fluid into and expelling fluid out the chamber through the orifice. The ram assembly includes first and second driving members spaced apart by a preselected free travel distance and a resilient biasing member having a preselected preload. The resilient biasing member is operatively disposed for maintaining the free travel distance when the preload is greater than a force applied to the first driving member. The maximum fluid pressure generated by the plunger/ram assembly is controlled by a free travel distance or gap existing between first and second driving members before the injector is fired. Prior to firing, the gap is accurately maintained during movement of the plunger/ram assembly by a resilient spring member. This arrangement ensures that the injected fluid will be delivered to the patient's body at a desired pressure sufficient to properly pierce the patient's skin or the like.
