摘要: An inkjet printer has been developed that reduces the effects of show-through by depositing ink onto a cooled print medium. The inkjet printer includes a printhead and a cooler. The printhead is configured to eject ink onto an ink receiving member as the ink receiving member is transported along a portion of a media path through the inkjet printer. The cooler is positioned proximate the media path to cool the ink receiving member prior to the printhead ejecting ink onto the ink receiving member.

摘要: Methods of treating ink on a porous substrate and methods of printing onto porous substrates are provided. An exemplary embodiment of the methods of treating ink on a porous substrate includes applying a layer of ink onto a first surface of a porous substrate; irradiating the layer of ink with first radiation having a first spectrum effective to partially cure the ink layer and reduce penetration of the ink into pores of the substrate; leveling the partially-cured ink layer; and irradiating the as-leveled ink layer with second radiation to further cure the ink layer, the second radiation having a second spectrum different from the first spectrum of the first radiation.

摘要: An apparatus prints and/or fixes ink on a substrate, such as in ink-jet printing with UV-curable inks. A conformable member is positioned to contact an ink-bearing side of the substrate at a nip. The conformable member substantially comprises a silicone-based elastomer having a conformability from about 20 shore A to about 10 shore A. A radiation source directs radiation to the ink-bearing side of the substrate at the nip, the radiation suitable for curing the ink on the substrate. The apparatus is particularly useful for printing onto corrugated cardboard or otherwise non-planar surfaces, since the resulting ink image is impressed uniformly onto the substrate by the conformable member without voids in the ink layer in the recesses of the non-planar surface.

摘要: Systems and methods of controlling banding defects on a receiving member in an imaging or printing process using a feedback and/or feedforward control technique. In one exemplary embodiment, a method of controlling banding defects on a receiving member in an imaging or printing process includes (a) determining a toner density on the receiving member, (b) automatically determining the extent of banding on the receiving member by comparing the determined toner density to a reference toner density value, and (c) automatically adjusting the toner density based on a result obtained from the comparison of the measured toner density to the reference toner density value, automatically determining the extent of banding and automatically adjusting the toner density being performed using a feedback and/or feedforward control routine or application.

摘要: An integrated circuit device containing internal logic and/or memory circuitry is provided with means to receive multiple inputs at the voltage levels of different logic families and with means to provide multiple outputs at the voltage levels of different logic families. On-chip input translators receive the inputs at the level of a given logic family and translate to the level required by the internal logic and/or memory circuitry. After performance of logic and/or memory functions, on-chip output translators translate the output of the internal logic and/or memory circuitry and provide external outputs at the voltage levels of different logic families. The internal logic and/or memory circuitry may be of a single logic family or may be composed of several logic families. On-chip translators may also be added between internal logic and/or memory circuitry of different families.

摘要: A magnetic ink printer includes an ink collector to remove residual magnetic ink from a printhead face. The ink collector uses a magnetic member to produce a magnetic field that acts on the magnetic ink to remove the ink from the printhead face with little or no wiping of the printhead face. The magnetic ink is collected for possible reuse in the printhead.
