摘要: A compressor according to an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, among other possible things includes, a rotor driven by a shaft and configured to compress air. A motor is drives the shaft. First and second journal bearings facilitate rotation of the shaft. The first journal bearing is located upstream from the motor, and the second journal bearing is located downstream from the motor. A thrust bearing also facilitates rotation of the shaft. The thrust bearing is downstream from the second journal bearing. A tie rod connects the shaft to a motor rotor shaft adjacent the first journal bearing. The tie rod includes an opening which is configured to communicate cooling air from the motor to the rotor. A method for cooling a compressor is also disclosed.

A processor estimates a rate of change of rotational speed of the component from the measured rotational speed and shuts down the air cycle machine when the estimated rate of change of the rotational speed of the component is greater than a selected rate threshold.

摘要: A lockout tool for an air cycle machine includes a lockout tool body threaded section, a lockout tool body end section, and a lockout tool body conical tip. The lockout tool body threaded section is operable to engage a threaded port of the air cycle machine that is proximate to a shaft of the air cycle machine. The lockout tool body end section includes a rotation interface operable to receive a rotational force to control engagement of the lockout tool body threaded section with the threaded port. The lockout tool body conical tip is operable to engage the shaft of the air cycle machine to prevent rotation of the shaft.

摘要: A ram air fan has a fan impeller and a motor. The impeller and motor are mounted within a housing. An inlet header delivers air to an inlet for the fan. An air supply system delivers air from an internal cavity of the inlet header to the motor and air bearings. The air supply system includes a conduit extending through the housing. A connection from the conduit extends from a J-shaped tube mounted within the inlet header. The J-shaped tube extends to a remote end, with a perforated member positioned on the remote end.

摘要: A method of repairing a compressor outlet housing includes the steps of obtaining a damaged compressor outlet housing having a radially outer volute, a radially inwardly extending finger extending to an axially extending ledge, a radially inwardly extending web extending radially inwardly from the ledge, and a radially inner bearing support defining a bore. The method identifies a damaged section within at least one of the bearing support, the web, and the ledge, and removes at least the bearing support and the web to leave a remaining part. The method then inserts an insert having at least a replacement bearing support and a replacement web into the remaining part after the removal step. The method then welds the insert to the remaining part to provide a repaired compressor housing. A method of replacing a compressor outlet housing and a replacement compressor outlet housing are also disclosed.
