摘要： In a tool change lathe, tools are located on a slide structure by means of inter-meshing toothed locating rings. A piston incorporated in the tool mount is interlockingly engageable with a tool and draws the tool onto the tool mount to interengage the toothed locating rings. The piston is rotatable about its axis so that the tool can be indexed to anyone of a plurality of different positions before the toothed locating rings are interengaged.

摘要： A lathe is provided with a chuck transfer mechanism which includes a head having a circular opening to receive a chuck for transfer. For holding the chuck in the opening there is a plurality of fluid actuated plunger devices around the opening with the devices interconnected to permit displacement of fluid from one device to another. This allows transverse movement of the chuck relative to the head to allow a toothed locating device on the chuck to align itself accurately with a complementary toothed locating device on the work spindle.

摘要： A lathe is provided in the feed drive to its saddle with a yieldable joint which absorbs shock loads. The joint may be incorporated in a nut assembly which is displaceable along a leadscrew and is connected to the saddle. The nut assembly comprises a housing, a pair of separate nut portions in the housing and prestressed resilient devices holding in position a pair of abutments through which axial thrust is transmitted from the nut portions to the housings.
