    摘要: There is provided a vertical lathe which, when machining gradually varying lens grooves in a mold for molding of a Fresnel lens, can change the angle of a cutting tool without positional displacement of the cutting tip, enabling high accuracy machining of the gradually varying lens grooves. The vertical lathe includes: a column; a rotary table for rotating a workpiece; a cantilevered cross rail supported by the column; a saddle movable in a horizontal direction along a guideway of the cross rail; a ram suspended from the saddle and movable vertically along a guideway of the saddle; and an inclined head mounted to the lower end of the ram and having an inclined swivel shaft for holding a cutting tool, wherein said swivel shaft is configured to swivel the cutting tool around a nose of the cutting tool as the center of swiveling.

Furthermore, the control means can cause the turning tool rest to perform a turning motion about an arbitrary position that differs from the position of the turning axis by concurrently and synchronously causing a turning motion of the turning tool rest about the turning axis, and a circular-arc motion based on the relative motion of the tool rest main body in the first linear direction and second linear direction.

    摘要: An adjustable toolholder apparatus includes a base plate having a planar supporting surface. A holder body includes a bottom planar supported surface which slideably engages and rests upon the supporting surface of the base plate. A linear position adjuster provides a linear sliding motion of the holder body upon the base plate. An angular position adjuster provides a rotational sliding motion of the holder body upon the base plate. The holder body has a wedge shaped recess within which is received a wedge shaped carrier block. A vertically adjustable column supports the wedge shaped carrier block from the base plate to adjust a height of the cutting tool. After linear and angular adjustment of the cutting tool relative to the base plate, the wedge shaped carrier block is clamped to the holder body, and the holder body and base plate are clamped to a cross slide to fix the cutting tool in its final desired position.

    摘要: A method is disclosed for imparting relative motion between a tool that is carried by a tool holder and a workpiece on a lathe. According to this method, a feed screw is provided, which has a first end and a second end and a threaded portion near the first end. A tool holder carrying a tool is fixed with respect to the second end of the feed screw, so that axial motion of the feed screw will be translated to the tool carried by the tool holder. A hollow drive tube is also provided, which has an internal diameter large enough to accommodate the feed screw and which is disposed to rotate about its long axis. The drive tube is mounted at a location that is fixed with respect to the workpiece, and a nut that is threaded to mate with the threaded portion of the feed screw is attached to one end of the drive tube. Apparatus for rotating the drive tube is attached thereto, and the second end of the feed screw is locked so that rotational motion thereof is inhibited. The nut is mated with the threaded portion of the feed screw, and the drive tube is rotated so as to impart axial motion to the feed screw as the nut rotates thereabout and to impart relative motion thereby to the tool that is carried by the tool holder. An apparatus which operates according to this method is also disclosed.

The auxiliary transverse table includes an auxiliary tool carrying an abrasive on one end thereof positioned at the opposite side to a machining tool of the transverse table. A workpiece is machined in a high straightness degree since the auxiliary tool of the auxiliary transverse table supports the workpiece on the opposite side to the tool of the transverse table which performs machining the workpiece. In addition, the machining time period as well as the number of machining processes on the workpiece can be reduced since the abrasive on one end of the auxiliary tool gives final touches to the workpiece during machining.

    摘要: A micro-machining center, in the form of an automatic screw machine, utilizes an array of tools and machining support mechanisms removably mounted on a carriage movable parallel to a first axis, and a spindle/collet mechanism movable parallel to a second axis, with machining and manipulating operations being conducted at the intersection of the two axes in a common plane. A microprocessor control system having multiaxis command capability precisely drives the carriage and spindle/collet mechanisms separately or concurrently to perform a sequence of supported machining functions for fabrication of a given part from stock. With this arrangement of microprocessor, tools and spindle/collet mechanism commands for manufacture of a part can readily be generated, verified, used and retained in storage for later use. The system operation is greatly facilitated by a video display providing a magnified image of stock and tool positions and machining operations at the intersection of the two axes, together with a joystick control and single step operation through the sequence, made possible by the microprocessor system.

    摘要: A machine tool for machining a workpiece (11), the workpiece (11) being fastened to a support (9) which has its bearings in a frame (1) of the machine tool and is rotatable about an axis of rotation (13), while a tool (37) is movable relative to the workpiece (11) by means of a positioning device (35) provided on a carrier (17) of the machine tool. The carrier (17) is movably guided relative to the support (9) along a straight guide (23, 25) of the frame (1) in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation (13) by means of static fluid bearings (19, 21), so that a space easily accessible to an operator is created between the carrier (17) and the support (9) through displacement of the carrier (17). The carrier (17) can be coupled to the frame (1) by means of coupling members (51) provided with bolts (75), a head of each bolt (75 ) forming a piston (73) which can be moved in a cylinder (59), which is hinged to the carrier (17). In the operational condition of the machine tool, in which the workpiece (11) is machined with the tool (37), each bolt (75) is subjected to a tensile stress which is achieved through the supply of pressurized fluid to the cylinders (59), so that a particularly rigid coupling of the carrier (17) to the frame (1) is obtained. In particular, so-called masters for projection television screens in the form of circular Fresnel lenses of a comparatively large diameter are manufactured with these machine tools.
