Abstract: Embodiments described herein may provide a method for analyzing traffic congestion at a toll plaza and identifying a preferred lane of travel through the toll plaza based on the traffic congestion. Methods may include: determining active toll lanes of all toll lanes at a toll plaza; obtaining probe data for each active toll lane at the toll plaza; determining lane-wise congestion for each active toll lane at the toll plaza; identifying a preferred lane of the active toll lanes; and providing for at least one of a navigational instruction or at least semi-autonomous vehicle control to enter or continue in the preferred lane.

The method comprises receiving at least one road sign observation associated with a location wherein the road sign observation comprises at least a road sign type. The method may include obtaining sensor data associated with the at least one road sign observation, based on at least the road sign type. The method may include calculating a number of lanes based on the sensor data. The method further includes, validating the road sign based on the number of lanes, wherein the road sign is validated as a correct road sign when the number of lanes is less than the number of lanes obtained from map data associated with the location.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide a method for using one or more audio signals from one or more sensors to establish the presence and severity of precipitation at a particular location. Methods may include: receiving at least one first audio signal from a first audio sensor of a vehicle; extracting acoustical features including frequency and amplitude from the at least one first audio signal; receiving at least one second audio signal from a second audio sensor of the vehicle; extracting acoustical features including frequency and amplitude from the at least one second audio signal; processing the frequency and amplitude from the at least one first audio signal and the frequency and amplitude from the at least one second audio signal as inputs to an algorithm to generate an output from the algorithm; and determining, from the output of the algorithm, a precipitation condition and a confidence measure of the precipitation condition.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein may provide a method for generating a local hazard warning boundary and at least one confidence band therein. Methods may include: receiving a plurality of probe data points from a plurality of probes within a region, where each probe data point includes location information and an indication of a hazardous condition; generating, based on the plurality of probe data points, a boundary within the region identifying an area within which the hazardous condition is determined to exist with at least a first degree of confidence; generating, based on the plurality of probe data points, a confidence band within the boundary within which the hazardous condition is determined to exist with a second degree of confidence; and providing for an indication of the boundary and the confidence band to at least one of an autonomous vehicle control or to a driver assistance system.
