Abstract: The ultrasonic image pickup apparatus includes a transmission/reception control unit that transmits an ultrasonic wave by applying a DC bias voltage and an AC driving voltage between electrodes of the electrostatic capacity type micro-machined ultrasonic transducer and picks up an image by transmitting and receiving two or more kinds of ultrasonic waveforms which have different signs, amplitudes, or phases from each other for one scanning line. In addition, as the AC driving voltage, the ultrasonic image pickup apparatus uses a voltage waveform that is obtained by adding a high frequency pulse waveform and a low frequency waveform that has a longer cycle than that of the high frequency pulse waveform and has such a voltage amplitude as makes the total voltage of the low frequency waveform and the DC bias voltage is equal or smaller than a pull-in voltage.

Abstract: Both controlling damage when assembling an ultrasonic probe using a chip formed with a capacitive ultrasonic transducer and securing operational reliability are achieved. In a semiconductor substrate on which the capacitive ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) is formed on a first primary surface, a protective film is formed on the surface of the ultrasonic transducer which is formed on the first primary surface of the semiconductor substrate which is then thinned by polishing a second primary surface opposite to the first primary surface of the semiconductor substrate, an ultrasonic transducer chip is cutout of the semiconductor substrate, a sound absorbing material is provided on the surface opposite to the surface formed with the ultrasonic transducer, and the protective film formed on the surface of the ultrasonic transducer is removed.

Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a user with information that serves as a material for determining whether an image generated by processing including a neural network is valid. A reception signal output by an ultrasonic probe that has received an ultrasonic wave from a subject is received, and an ultrasonic image is generated based on the reception signal. A trained neural network receives the reception signal or the ultrasonic image, and outputs an estimated reception signal or an estimated ultrasonic image. A validity information generation unit generates information indicating validity of the estimated reception signal or the estimated ultrasonic image by using one or more of the reception signal, the ultrasonic image, the estimated reception signal, the estimated ultrasonic image, and output of an intermediate layer of the neural network.

Abstract: There is provided an ultrasound imaging apparatus that can reduce vertical stripes even though a transmission interval is widened for high speed imaging. When a receiving unit 1201 receives an instruction to perform a high speed imaging mode, an aperture synthesizing unit 1300 adds a predetermined number (N) of phase outputs obtained from the reflected ultrasonic waves of individual transmission beams at the same received focal points to reduce the occurrence of stripes on an image. In order to generate N phase outputs at each of the received focal points, a control unit 401 finds a necessary number (M) of the reception scanning lines to be set by the reception beam former 603, and notifies the reception beam former 603 of the number.
