POLYADDUCTS ARE OBTAINED WHEN TREATING METHANES HAVING ETHYLENE-IMINE RINGS AND A POLYETHER CHAIN OR A FLUOROALKYL CHAIN WITH ACIDIC COMPOUNDS. THE POLYADDUCTS ARE TEXTILE FINISHING AGENTS RENDERING TEXTILES HYDROPHOBIC AND OLEOPHOBIC AND ACHIEVE THE SO-CALLED SOIL-RELEASE EFFECT.
Abstract:
ADDUCTS FROM FLUOROALKANOLS, TOLUENE DIISOCYANATES AND POLYETHYLENE GLYCOLS ARE USEFUL FOR RENDERING TEXTILES OIL-AND WATER REPELLENT AND ACHIEVE THE "SOIL RELEASE EFFECT." FURTHERMORE, THEY ARE DISPERSING AGENTS FOR OILAND WATER REPELLENT POLYMERS MADE OF ADDUCTS FROM SAID FLUOROALKANOLS, TOLUENE DIISOCYANATES AND EHTYLENE IMINE.
IN WHICH N IS A NUMBER FROM 1 TO 4, Z IS 1 OR 2, R REPRESENTS A LOWER ALKYL GROUP AND X- IS A HALOGEN SULFATE OR METHOSULFATE ANION, AND PROCESS FOR PREPARING THESE COMPOUNDS, WHEREIN PERFLUORO-ALKANE-CARBOXYLIC ACID ALKYL ESTERS, ARE REACTED WITH 1-(N,N-DIETHANOL)-3AMINO-PROPANE AND , DEPENDING ON THE COMPOUND, SUBSEQUENTLY OXETHYLATED, ESTERIFIED AND/OR QUATERNIZED. THE NEW COMPOUNDS STRONGLY REDUCE THE SURFACE TENSION OF AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS. THEY HAVE AN EXCELLENT WETTING POWER AND MAY ALSO BE USED AS EMULSIFIERS FOR FLUORO-HYROCARBON/WATER EMULSIONS. PARTIALLY FLUORINATED PARAFFIN SULFONIC ACID AMIDES HAVING IN THEIR AMIDE MOIETY AN ALKYLENE GROUP WITH A TERMINAL TERTIARY AMINO GROUP OR A QUATERNARY AMMONIUM GROUP ARE OBTAINED BY REACTING A PARTIALLY FLUORINATED PARAFFIN SULFOCHLORIDE WITH AN N,N-DIALKYL-ALKYLENEDIAMINE AND, OPTINALLY, TRANSFORMING THE SO-OBTAINED SULFONIC ACID AMIDES INTO THEIR SALTS WITH ACIDS OR QUATERNIZING AGENTS. THE PRODUCTS ARE USEFUL AS SURFACE-OR INTERFACE-ACTIVE AGENTS, ESPECIALLY AS EMULSIFIERS OR FOAMING AGENTS.
