Abstract:
Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system boiler controllers are described herein. One controller includes a memory and a processor configured to execute executable instructions stored in the memory to determine a change to a set point of the boiler that would lower a cost of operating the boiler, determine whether the change to the set point of the boiler is possible for the boiler, and make the change to the set point of the boiler upon determining the change is possible.
Abstract:
Demand response automated load characterization systems and methods are described herein. One method includes identifying a plurality of load models that include a variable that influences an energy demand, normalizing the plurality of load models, aggregating the normalized plurality of load models to generate an aggregated model for the variable.
Abstract:
A supervisory controller for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is described herein. One device includes a data management module configured to receive a zone demand signal from a local controller of a zone of an HVAC system and receive a number of additional signals from a number of sensors, and a parameter identification module configured to determine, based on the zone demand signal, whether the zone is in a comfort state by loading a best model structure from a number of models and identifying parameters of the best model structure based on data received from the data management module.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are described herein. One method embodiment includes determining an unscaled efficiency signal of combustion equipment using data measured from the combustion equipment, determining a theoretical efficiency signal of the combustion equipment using a theoretical efficiency surface of the combustion equipment and a subset of the measured data, and normalizing the unscaled efficiency signal using values from a correlated portion of the theoretical efficiency signal to monitor efficiency of the combustion equipment. Other embodiments can include providing a performance indicator of the combustion equipment in response to an operational mode change.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and systems for monitoring condenser performance are described herein. One method includes receiving a control signal associated with a fan component of a condenser of a refrigeration system, determining an expected control signal based on a number of driving conditions associated with the condenser, and providing a notification responsive to a difference between the received control signal and the expected control signal exceeding a threshold.

Abstract:
A system for purchasing and selling power that fairly accommodates sellers and buyers. For instance, a submarket may be formed between a utility company or retailer and its consumer or customer. The utility or retailer may eliminate differences between generated or purchased power and demanded power. Mechanisms used for elimination of power differences may incorporate utilizing power from ancillary services, purchasing or selling power on the spot market, and affecting a demand for power with demand response programs. A difference between purchased power and demanded power may be minimized by forming an optimal power stack having a mix of power of the demand response program, power at the spot market and/or power of ancillary services. An optimization sequence may be implemented to minimize the difference between the purchased power and demanded power, and to maximize profit.
