    摘要: A parking brake assembly for a railway car includes a ratchet mounted for rotation on a threaded piston rod of a brake actuator and a holding pawl engageable with the ratchet for maintaining a push rod of the parking brake assembly to apply braking force when the air pressure is lost in the brake pipe and releasing the push rod to accordingly release the braking force when the supply of air pressure in the brake pipe is restored. An operating lever and a cylinder connected thereto are provided for selectively rotating the holding pawl. Valve is provided for supplying air pressure to and evacuating it from the cylinder. Release mechanism is provided for manually releasing the braking force. The parking brake assembly is employed with either truck-mounted or carbody-mounted braking system.

    摘要: A locking assembly for preventing the accidental let out of a slack adjuster is provided. The elongated rod member of the slack adjuster has a first portion positioned within at least a portion of the slack adjuster's elongated hollow housing member and a second portion extending out of an end of this elongated hollow housing. A jaw member may be provided which is engageable with this second portion of the elongated rod member at a location remote from the end of the elongated hollow housing member. The locking assembly comprises an end cap engageable with the end of the elongated hollow housing. This end cap includes a portion extending substantially parallel with the second portion of the elongated rod member. At least one aperture is formed through this parallely extending portion of the end cap. A member is provided which is engageable within this at least one aperture and with the second portion of the elongated rod member or the jaw member for preventing longitudinal movement of the elongated rod member with respect to the elongated hollow housing member and consequently for preventing the accidental let out of the slack adjuster.

    摘要: A handbrake system for use with a truck-mounted, single-cylinder brake rigging including truss-type brake beams, there being a single handbrake pivotal lever supported intermediate its ends by a twisted transfer link that is, in turn, fixed to the brake rigging transfer lever. A fulcrum end of the handbrake lever is free to engage the bearing surface of a thrust block mounted on the brake beam at the juncture of the beam tension and strut members in order to allow the point of engagement between the fulcrum end and the bearing surface to change with rotation of the handbrake lever. In addition, the fulcrum end of the handbrake lever is arranged with two, spaced-apart arcuate segments that successively engage the bearing surface of the thrust block during rotation of the handbrake lever to change its lever ratio and, accordingly, limit the degree of rotation of the handbrake lever.

A plurality of apertures are formed though the first elongated portion for connecting the hand brake lever to each of a brake actuator, a brake beam, a slack adjuster trigger mechanism, and a slack adjuster mechanism. An aperture is formed through the second elongated portion for connecting hand brake chain thereto.
