The seat assembly further includes a seat back including a first back portion, a second back portion, and a third back portion located between the first and second portions. The third seat portion is movable between a first position, wherein the seating surface of the third seat portion is generally flush with the seating surfaces of the first and second seat portions, and a second position, wherein the seating surface of the third seat portion extends in a non-flush position relative to the seating surfaces of the first and second seat portions.

摘要: The back of the seat in a motor vehicle is connected to the base of the seat by a shaft which has a cylindrical eccentric of lesser eccentricity and a frustoconical eccentric of more pronounced eccentricity. The base has a first gear with a first internal surface surrounding the cylindrical eccentric and a second internal surface surrounding the second eccentric. One or more teeth of the first gear mate with the teeth of an internal gear on the back. The shaft is journalled in the back and can be rotated by a handle to thereby change the inclination of the back relative to the base. The second surface is movable axially of the shaft and is biased in such a direction by one or more springs to bear against the surface of the frustoconical eccentric. The cylindrical eccentric is effective during the initial stage of angular movement of the shaft for the purpose of changing the inclination of the back.

摘要: A hinge joint for use in the seats of motor vehicles to bring about changes of inclination of the back of the seat has a first component which is secured to the body supporting portion of the seat, a second component which is affixed to the back of the seat, and a shaft which has an eccentric cylindrical portion rotatably journalled in the first component and two conical portions which are disposed at opposite axial ends of the cylindrical portion and are received in complementary openings of two spaced-apart sections of the second component. A diaphragm spring biases the shaft axially to urge the conical portions deeper into the respective openings. Eventual changes of orientation of the shaft in response to the application of external stresses to the back during adjustment of its inclination do not entail a pronounced increase of the force which is required to turn the shaft for the purpose of adjusting the inclination of the back because the elastic deformation of component parts of the hinge joint and radial tolerances between the gears of the transmission which is installed between the components are compensated for by large-area contact between the conical portions of the shaft and the respective component. This renders it possible to make the shaft and the components of the hinge joint of less expensive lightweight material.

摘要: A hinge, particularly for a seat with an adjustable back, has two hinge parts movable relative to one another about a pivot axis between a plurality of relative positions, a rotatable shaft member defining the pivot axis, and an adjusting device for adjusting the relative position between the hinge part and formed as a transmission, wherein the adjusting device includes an eccentric with an inclined surface and a bearing with an adjusting surface on which the surface of the eccentric abuts. The shaft member together with the eccentric is displacement in an axial direction with the aid of an accumulator for obtaining a radial displacement between the hinge parts. The eccentric is formed as a truncated cone, whereas the bearing has a conical bore with an inclination corresponding to the inclination of the truncated cone of the eccentric and a somewhat greater diameter than the latter, and wherein this inclination has an angle which is smaller than the static friction angle and greater than the sliding friction angle of the bearing pair formed by the truncated cone of the eccentric and the conical opening of the bearing.

摘要: A hinge joint for use in the seats of motor vehicles has a first leaf which is affixed to the body-supporting part of the seat, a second leaf which is affixed to the pivotable back rest of the seat, and a pintle which provides a pivot for the second leaf. Each of the leaves is provided with a gear and one of the gears surrounds the other gear and has a larger number of teeth. One of the leaves is mounted on two coaxial portions of the pintle, and the gear of the other leaf spacedly surrounds a sleeve which is axially movably mounted on an eccentric portion of the pintle between the two coaxial portions and serves as a retainer for a diaphragm spring which biases the gear of the other leaf axially and radially into mesh with the gear of the one leaf. A needle bearing is interposed between the sleeve and the eccentric portion of the pintle, and a ring can be placed around the diaphragm spring to be in turn surrounded by a passive gear or by a ring-shaped extension of the one component.

摘要: The stationary component of a hinge joint between the lower part and the back of a seat in a motor vehicle is coupled to a pivotable component of the back of the seat by a shaft which carries an eccentric for the inner race of a ball bearing whose outer race is non-rotatably secured to a spur gear forming an integral part of the stationary component and mating with one or more teeth of an internal gear in the pivotable component. The outer race has a frustoconical internal surface engaged by the convex surface of a lever which is pivotally connected to and rotates with the shaft when the latter is turned by an operator to change the inclination of the back of the seat. An elastic pad or one or more springs are used to bias the eccentric radially of the shaft. The shaft is non-rotatably connected with but can move radially of the eccentric. The eccentric ensures that the teeth of the spur gear mate with the teeth of the internal gear without any play, and the lever ensures that the play between the teeth of the two gears is eliminated even if the tolerances in machining of these gears very in the circumferential direction of the gears.
