摘要: A modulating heater system for a pool or spa includes a pool/spa heater capable of variably modulating energy output thereof and a controller communicatively coupled to the heater. The controller determines a current mode of operation for the heater, and establishes temperature overshoot and target temperature setpoints for pool/spa water for the current mode of operation. The controller determines a current temperature of the water, an optimized modulation rate for the heater for the current mode of operation, and a maximum modulation rate for the heater for the current mode of operation. The controller controls the heater to operate at one of the optimized and maximum modulation rates based on the temperature overshoot setpoint for the current mode of operation, the target water temperature setpoint for the current mode of operation, and the current water temperature. A corresponding method for controlling a pool/spa modulating heater is also provided.

摘要: A system and method for optimizing cable size and flexibility for a pool or spa installation is provided. The system includes an inductive power coupling having first and second power couplings. The inductive power coupling transforms a first voltage level provided by the cable to a second voltage level suitable for usage by the pool or spa component and compensates for a voltage loss associated with the cable allowing the cable to have a size and flexibility suitable for installation in a pipe or conduit. The first power coupling is in electrical communication with a power supply via a cable and the second power coupling is in electrical communication with a pool or spa component. The first power coupling inductively transmits received power from the power supply via the cable to the second power coupling. The second power coupling inductively transmits the received power to the pool or spa component.

摘要: Exemplary embodiments are directed to systems and methods for monitoring pool or spa water, and determining an operational status of a pool or spa pump. The system includes a monitoring device engaged with a component of a pool or spa plumbing system, and in communication with a server. The server receives data from the monitoring device relating to characteristics of water within the component detected by the monitoring device. Based on the received data, the server can determine whether the data should, be discarded, and a runtime of the pump. The server can also receive vibration energy information from the monitoring device, determine runtime events of the pump based thereon, and determine whether the data should be discarded based on the vibration energy information. An adapter for coupling a monitoring device to a pool or spa plumbing system component, and retaining fluid within a reservoir portion thereof is also provided.

摘要: Systems and methods for smart valve control of pool and spa components and operations are provided. A smart valve system is provided which includes a multiplexed communications link between the smart valve system and a pool/spa control system which allows for a plurality of relays of the pool/spa control system to control a plurality of valves of the smart valve system using a single data communications cable connected between the smart valve system and the pool/spa control system. The smart valve system allows for calibration and control of a pumping system, such as a variable speed pumping system. The smart valve system optimizes operation and heat transfer of a solar heater in fluid communication with the smart valve system. The smart valve system allows for control and optimization of a pool cleaner in fluid communication with the smart valve system. The smart valve system allows for control and optimization of a gas heater in fluid communication with the smart valve system. The smart valve system detects dirty filter conditions, and assists a priming operation of a pump, detects low pool water conditions and automatically remedies such conditions, and detects and mitigates pump cavitation. In still further embodiments, the smart valve system controls fluid flow to a chlorinator.

摘要: A modulating heater system for a pool or spa includes a pool or spa heater capable of variably modulating energy output thereof and a controller communicatively coupled thereto. The controller determines a predicted load based on a previous load, ambient and water temperatures, and estimated pool/spa size, and determines an overshoot setpoint for an operational mode. The controller establishes a target temperature setpoint for the mode and receives a current water temperature. The controller determines whether the overshoot setpoint plus target temperature setpoint is greater than the current water temperature, and determines an error based thereon. The controller determines if the error is less than or greater than a target for the mode, and, based on this determination, determines a heater modulation rate for the mode taking into account the mode, maximum heater output, and available fuel supply. The controller controls the heater to operate at the determined modulation rate.

摘要: Mobile nozzles and associated systems for cleaning pools and spas are provided. One or more mobile nozzles traverse a pool or spa, dislodge settled debris from the floors thereof, and direct the debris to one or more outlets for removal and/or filtration. Each of the mobile nozzles can include a body, a water intake, a discharge nozzle configured to expel pressurized water, one or more sensors adapted for navigation and/or to locate debris within the pool or spa, a propulsion system, and a control system including a memory and a processor. The discharge nozzle can be movable between a plurality of orientations relative to the body, or can have a fixed orientation. The processor is operable to identify debris in the pool or spa and cause the discharge nozzle to be positioned such that the pressurized water expelled therethrough directs the debris toward a debris collection zone or outlet.
