The fast handover method for a mobile node connected to a network via an access point to perform a data communication in a wireless communication environment according to the present invention includes: performing an authentication while communicating with an authentication server having registration information about the mobile node via an uncontrolled port of the access point so as to make the mobile node connected to the network; performing a mobile Internet Protocol (IP) registration for binding a Care-of-Address (CoA) to a home agent and a correspondent node (CN) via the access point in parallel with performing the authentication; and opening a control port of the access point and relaying data transceived at the mobile node using the CoA when the authentication and the registration being successfully completed. Accordingly, a fast handover of the mobile node can be supported.

The handover management method includes receiving a handover request notification from a serving access node (AN) that is located in a first wireless network and connected to a mobile node (MN) and extracting information from the received handover request notification. The method further includes changing the target AN, which is discovered from the extracted information, to an AN of the MN and storing information associating the mobile node with the target access node.

The handoff method includes steps of intercepting by a previous access router certain TCP packets sent from a correspondent node to a previous temporary address of a mobile node; and creating a TCP ACK by the previous access router in response to the certain TCP packets and sending by the previous access router the created TCP ACK to the correspondent node every time the certain TCP packets are forwarded to a new access router through a bi-directional tunnel. The handoff method has an advantage in that the packet transmission rate can be secured at the same level as the mobile node stays still during the performance of the handoff of the mobile node since the previous access router instead of the mobile node creates and sends the TCP ACK to the correspondent node during the performance of the handoff of the mobile node.
