Abstract:
A method and apparatus for storing a telephone number in a portable terminal. The method includes the steps of providing a user with a name input request message; determining whether or not the inputted name exists in a phone book list of the portable terminal; and generating a new entry including the inputted name and its associated telephone number and adding the new entry to the phone book list when the inputted name does not exist in the phone book list.

Abstract:
An apparatus and a method stabilize a charging current when recharging a battery in a device that uses a rechargeable battery. The device includes a charge module and a controller. The charge module provides a charging current to the battery, and operates in at least one of a Constant Current (CC) mode that maintains the charging current at a fixed value while the battery is charged, and a Constant Voltage (CV) mode that maintains a battery voltage at a reference value. The controller controls the charge module to operate in the CC mode when starting charging, controls the charge module to operate in the CV mode when the battery voltage reaches the reference value, and controls the charge module to operate in the CC mode for at least one time duration after the battery voltage reaches the reference value.
Abstract:
A method is provided for recognizing a key in a terminal apparatus having a key matrix structure. The method according to the invention includes the steps of recognizing pushing of and detaching from a key by using a difference between a previous key status value on the key matrix and a current key status value according to a change of the key status, and obtaining a positional value of an inputted key on the key matrix by using a relational expression considering difference values between adjacent rows in each line and between adjacent lines in each row and a difference between the previous key value and the current key value.
Abstract:
A key expansion apparatus of an electronic device includes at least one basic key for connecting/disconnecting one of a plurality of first input ports and one of a plurality of second input ports in order to make key input, and at least one additional key for connecting three or more of the first input ports and the second input ports. Accordingly, the key expansion can be achieved using a small number of input ports without additional expense.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to electronic equipment having a controlling unit and a subordinate unit, and more particularly, to an apparatus for controlling power and signal of electronic equipment having a controlling unit and a subordinate unit which can reduce power consumption by turning off power to an unused subordinate unit at a certain period of time, and effectively reducing leakage current that flows from the controlling unit to the subordinate unit in the apparatus for extending battery usage time, and prevent distortion of waveforms of the subordinate unit's input end being sent from the controlling unit. The apparatus includes switch operation circuit unit connected to signal control line to prevent leakage current flowing toward the subordinate unit by signal level of the controlling unit being authorized to the signal control line; capacitors connected to the signal control line, that exist on the signal control line and inside of the subordinate module; and residual current element removing unit for discharging residual current charged in the capacitors, in order to prevent distortion of signals that are authorized from the controlling unit to the subordinate unit.
Abstract:
A key pattern connecting device for a domed metal switch. The domed metal switch includes first and second contact parts arranged in a key matrix on a main board. The key pattern connecting device comprises at least one first contact part electrically connected to columns by means of main connection patterns on the main board, at least one second contact part electrically connected to rows by means of the main connection patterns, a plurality of domed metal keys provided to the surfaces of the contact parts, respectively, and a flexible circuit attached to the main board in such a manner that the keys are projected through the flexible circuit. The flexible circuit has a plurality of connection patterns formed in such a manner that the connection patterns come into contact with the keys connected to the columns and the keys connected to the rows, respectively.
Abstract:
An apparatus for powering on a terminal with a keypad by randomly selecting any key of the keypad. The keypad includes a plurality of keys, each of which has at least one set of contacts. The apparatus comprises a device controlled in such a manner as to be enabled to receive a battery voltage and supply a system voltage, a controller for, upon sensing a random key selection, generating a power on/off signal of a first state to continuously supply power to the terminal until a power off state is sensed and, upon sensing a power on state, generating a key on/off signal of a first state to operate subsequent input keys as general keys, and a key array switch including a plurality of first switches each for connecting one of the two contacts of each key arrayed in a corresponding row to the battery voltage, and a plurality of second switches each for connecting the other contact of each key arrayed in a corresponding column to an enable terminal of the system voltage supply device, the key array switch being disabled in response to the key on/off signal of the first state.

Abstract:
A circuit and method of processing malfunction of a hall effect switch used for recognition of an open/close state of a flip or folder of a terminal. The circuit includes an output terminal of the hall effect switch for outputting a first-state or second-state signal that indicates the open/close state of the flip or folder by sensing change of a magnetic field according to opening/closing of the flip or folder, a flip/folder-state input terminal for transferring the first-state or second-state signal to a control section of the terminal, a first pull-up resistor connected to the flip/folder-state input terminal, a ripple-removing capacitor connected to the flip/folder-state input terminal, and a second resistor of which one terminal is connected to the output terminal of the hall effect switch and the other terminal is connected to a connection point of the first resistor and the capacitor.
