    摘要: An air bag for a vehicle has a peripheral part of an occupant-associated panel and a peripheral part of an inflator-associated panel stitched together. At portions of the peripheral part of each panel where constituent threads of a fabric of that panel and a contour line of the air bag are substantially parallel, the peripheral part of the other panel stitched thereto is curtailed to form a curtailed portion where threads and the contour are not parallel. As result, the thread-contour substantially parallel portions are easily bent by gas flow on inflation of the air bag and an amount of thread fraying occurring on inflation of the bag is reduced by the bending.

    摘要: In an airbag device (10) wherein within a casing (12) opening upwardly an inflator (16) and an airbag (14) are housed at its bottom part and the opening side, respectively, a cylindrical diffuser (18) surrounding the outer circumference of the inflator (16) is provided, which has a partition wall (40) projecting toward the opening side of the casing and partitioning an airbag-housing space into a forward side and a rearward side relative to the vehicle, in which to house the airbag (14) dividedly, and a lip portion (32) of the airbag (14) is superposed downwards of the diffuser (18) thereby to lock the bottom part of the diffuser (18) to the bottom surface of the casing (12). Thus, it is easy, albeit compart, to control the deployment behavior of the airbag and excellent in workability of assembling the airbag in the casing.

    摘要: An airbag with an inflation gas diffuser comprising an inflator side cloth and an occupant side cloth both of a substantially equal size and a generally circular shape seamed together at outer peripheral portions thereof to form an outer configuration of the airbag. The inflator side cloth has a central opening through which to communicate with an inflator, and an internal cloth of a smaller size enclosed within the airbag to cover the opening. The internal cloth is partially seamed at its outer perimetric portion, to the inflator side cloth so as to form circumferentially alternately seamed portions and non-seamed open portions acting as a control passage for the inflation gas. The internal cloth may be circular, semicircular, dumbbell, polygonal, etc. The seamed portions each may consist of a main straight seam and two curved end seams.

    摘要: An inflatable bag for airbag passive restraints for driver which comprises upper and lower circular base cloths of the same size seamed together at their outer peripheries and lateral regulating means for regulating inflation of the bag in lateral and upward directions and causing downward inflation, which means extends to link between an inner periphery of the lower base cloth and the outer peripheries in a shorter length than the radial distance therebetween, thus forming a sag portion on the lower cloth. When the bag is deployed, the lateral regulating means enables the sag portion to bulge sideways out of a steering wheel to protect a driver. The bag may further include upward restricting means for upward inflation. The lateral and the upward regulating means may be located in a whole circumferential area or within a range of 1/2 to 1/4 the circumference of both cloths. A method of producing the bag having lateral or both regulating means is characterized by using a third cloth of the same size having strap-like portion or portions defined by communicating hole or holes. After superposing and sewing of the lower, upper and third cloths, the strap-like portions are each raised and folded into two and sewn at two roots, thus forming the lateral means. Then the folded strap-like portions are cut at one root and the unfolded strap ends are sewn to the upper base cloth to form upward strap members.

    摘要: An air bag device has an air bag at least partially receivable in a predetermined receiving part of a vehicle along with an inflator for inflating the air bag. A band is breakable by a deployment pressure of the air bag and is provided such that at least a part of the air bag is strapped by the band to retain a folded shape prior to deployment of the air bag. The band is formed of a woven fabric in an embodiment and includes a breaking part formed by breaking assisting structure arranged in a line corresponding to a breaking direction of the breaking part. In an embodiment of the air bag device the woven fabric has weaving thread inclined at an inclination angle with respect to the breaking direction of the breaking part. A further feature provides a retainer including an attachment part for fixing the air bag to the inflator and the band including an insertion hole part formed therein through which the attachment part of the retainer and the inflator are inserted such that the air bag is strapped together with the retainer by the band.

    摘要: In a bag for a vehicle air bag device according to this invention, tethers are installed at positions clear of the spouting direction of gas from a flow regulator. Therefore, the flow regulating effect provided by the flow regulator is not impaired by the tethers, allowing the gas flow to be reliably directed diametrically outward toward the outer periphery of the bag, whereby the deployment speed of the bag moving toward the occupant can be reduced. Further, in a bag for a vehicle air bag device according to this invention, a folding system which allows less easy spreading is employed in the spouting direction of gas from the flow regulator. Therefore, the gas flow can be uniformly led in two mutually opposite directions, thereby making it possible to reduce the deployment speed of the bag moving toward the occupant.

    摘要: An inflatable bag,for airbag restraint systems for a front seat passenger, of a quadrilateral prismoidal shape comprising a right-angled quadrilateral base portion adapted to face and receive the passenger by the extension of the bag upon deployment, a lip portion defining an opening for admitting gas from the system and adapted to be attached to a dashboard, upper and lower face portions, and lateral face portions having T-like or Y-like joints diverging from the lip to base portions and exhibiting a strap effect. The bag is made of a one-piece cloth, each outlining lateral side of which has longitudinally consecutive six sides of three triangular sections wherein two endmost sides and respective two adjoining sides have respectively an equal length, or longitudinally consecutive five sides wherein two endmost sides have an equal length and other two sides adjacent to the former have a total length equal to the length of a longitudinal side therebetween. When the cloth is longitudinally folded into two, the endmost sides are superposed and sewed together. Then, respective adjoining sides are superposed and sewed together, thus forming the Y-like joints and lateral face portions, or other two sides are superposed onto the longitudinal side and sewed together, thus forming the T-like joints and lateral portions, thereby shaping the prismoidal body, which is turned inside out to give the bag. The endmost sides may assume an arc-like line.

    摘要: A power supply apparatus has a combined power source with power cells configured electrically independently. A switch arbitrarily changes connection paths of the power cells by selectively connecting power cell terminals through switching elements. A voltage detector detects differences in electrical potentials between the power cell terminals. A controller controls ON-OFF states of the switching elements by controlling the switch by a control signal generated based on voltage signals representing the differences in electrical potentials detected by the voltage detector so as to isolate one of the power cells to stop a supply of electric power therefrom when a voltage generated in the power cell has dropped to a specified voltage or lower. The controller restarts the supply of electric power from the power cell whose power supply has been stopped when the duration of a down time of the power cell has reached a predetermined time or longer.
