An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing electrodes that can effectively suppress edge-curl when metal electrodes such as bus electrodes and data electrodes are patterned mainly by a photolithography method. In order to achieve the above object, in the manufacturing method in the present invention, an amount of undercut generated by difference in a degree of dissolution caused by developing solution is controlled, and baking is performed at a temperature such that glass in a protrusion formed at side edges becomes soft so as to touch a substrate by gravity. With such method for manufacturing, it becomes possible to make the side edges rounded whose curvature changes continuously.

An object of the present invention is to provide a technique for relatively easily suppressing the yellowing of a Plasma Display Panel in which electrodes comprising silver are disposed on the substrates, and thus render image displays with high luminance and high quality. In order to achieve the object, an arrangement is made in which the electrodes comprising silver further include an element whose standard electrode potential is lower than that of silver, such as Cr, Al, In, B, and Ti, or a compound of such an element, as a silver ionization inhibiting substance.

A PDP has first and second substrates which face each other with a space in between. A display electrode pair and a dielectric layer are formed on the first substrate, and a plurality of discharge cells are formed between the first and second substrates along the display electrode pair. In this construction, two or more depressions are provided in the dielectric layer in an area corresponding to each discharge cell. This improves luminous intensity and illumination efficiency. Also, to form the dielectric layer on the first substrate, first a transfer film is made by providing a dielectric precursor layer on a support film, then depressions are formed in the dielectric precursor layer of the transfer film, and lastly the dielectric precursor layer of the transfer film is transferred onto the first substrate. This decreases the number of manufacturing steps and increases the yield, thereby reducing manufacturing costs.

A method for producing a high-luminance and high-image-quality plasma display panel (PDP) reduced in panel yellowing, and the PDP obtained by the method. The method for forming electrodes in the PDP includes a base layer formation step for forming a base layer containing metal oxides on a glass substrate, a precipitation promoting step for depositing palladium on regions of the base layer where a metal layer will be formed, and a step for forming the metal layer on the regions. The metal oxides contained in the base layer is preferably made of one or more metal oxides selected out of nickel oxide, cobalt oxide, iron oxide, zinc oxide, indium oxide, copper oxide, titanium oxide, praseodymium oxide, and silicon oxide.

It includes a front panel and a rear panel that are disposed to oppose each other, with a discharge space being interposed therebetween, and a phosphor layer that is disposed above a principal surface located on the discharge space side of the rear panel and that emits light by being irradiated with ultraviolet rays generated in the discharge space. The phosphor layer contains first and second phosphors in which the changes in at least one property selected from luminance and chromaticity, which accompany driving of the panel, occur in the opposite directions to each other.
