摘要: Feeding a recording medium through a printer for printing images on the recording medium by actuating a line feeding motor in predetermined stepped increments, feeding the recording medium through the printer by a line feeding device driven by the line feeding motor, printing a image on the recording medium by a print head scanning across the recording medium and ejecting ink from nozzles, the print head having j nozzles spaced at a predetermined pixel resolution that is less than a pixel resolution printed by the printer, j being an integer number, controlling the actuating step to actuate the line feed motor in stepped increments, and controlling the j nozzles utilized in printing the image. For each stepped increment of the line feed motor, the line feeding device feeds the recording medium (m×1/n) pixels of the print head pixel resolution, where m and n are integer numbers and m is greater than n. The j nozzles that print in any one scan of the print head are controlled based on the number of increments of the line feed motor. Additionally, a print driver calculates a line skip amount and a buffer offset amount, and adjusts a starting position for storing of the image data in a print buffer in a case where a first line of image data to be stored in the print buffer is white data.

摘要: A physical layer which depends on hardware of a general-purpose interface determines whether an image supply device supports a predetermined communication protocol. A transport layer which controls communication as an upper layer of the physical layer determines whether the image supply device supports the predetermined communication protocol. When either of the physical and transport layers determines that the image supply device supports the predetermined communication protocol, the image supply device is decided to support the predetermined communication protocol. When both of the physical and transport layers do not determine that the image supply device supports the predetermined communication protocol, an application layer serving as an upper layer of the transport layer determines whether the image supply device supports the predetermined communication protocol.

摘要: An ink jet printing apparatus which performs printing by using a print head. The print head has at least a predetermined number of nozzles to eject ink. The apparatus includes a first prefiring mechanism for causing the print head to perform a prefiring operation to eject ink from nozzles of the print head for maintaining printing quality after a first time interval during a printing operation. The apparatus also includes a driving mechanism for driving nozzles of the print head based on data to be printed, and a second prefiring mechanism for causing the print head to perform the prefiring operation in a case where a number of the nozzles to be driven is changed. Preferably, the apparatus further includes a shifting mechanism for causing the driving mechanism to drive the nozzles of the print head based on the first time interval during the printing operation so as to enhance a power of ejecting ink and continue the printing operation after the first time interval without performing the prefiring operation. The shifting mechanism also preferably delays the prefiring operation to a second time interval longer than the first time interval, and after the second time interval, the first prefiring mechanism causes the print head to perform the prefiring operation. In a case where the number of nozzles to be driven is changed within a time duration after the first time interval and during the second time interval, the second prefiring mechanism causes the print head to perform the prefiring operation.
