    摘要: In an optical wavelength tunable filter (AOTF) using an acousto-optic effect of the present invention, there is provided a single SAW waveguide which propagates a surface acoustic wave generated by an IDT along respective arm portions of an optical waveguide. The SAW waveguide is formed with a pair of low sound-velocity areas having a curved belt shape, in which a mode distribution of a propagating SAW is changed symmetrically with respect to a straight line as an axis passing through the middle of the respective arm portions, while keeping the sound velocity of the SAW constant. As a result, wavelength dependence and polarization dependence of the filter property, and an increase in sidelobe level, generated due to weighting of the SAW intensity, can be suppressed.

    摘要: In an optical wavelength tunable filter (AOTF) using an acousto-optic effect of the present invention, there is provided a single SAW waveguide which propagates a surface acoustic wave generated by an IDT along respective arm portions of an optical waveguide. The SAW waveguide is formed with a pair of low sound-velocity areas having a curved belt shape, in which a mode distribution of a propagating SAW is changed symmetrically with respect to a straight line as an axis passing through the middle of the respective arm portions, while keeping the sound velocity of the SAW constant. A pyro-electricity coping conductive wiring pattern is provided in a region of the substrate other than the SAW guide and neutralizes polarization charge generated on a surface of the substrate.

The optical device comprises a substrate having an electrooptical effect; an optical waveguide formed in this substrate; a plurality of comb electrode pairs which are arranged side by side along the optical waveguide, can apply an electric field for said electrooptical effect, and are formed from respective pairs of comb electrodes; and drive voltage supply means capable of supplying a drive voltage to said comb electrode pairs such that the voltage changes with time.

    摘要: An optical communication device of the invention includes a reflector for reflecting the light that has reached one end surface of a waveguide chip to turn the optical path of the light. The reflector includes a transparent thin film layer formed on one end surface of the waveguide chip by using a material to which a metal that forms an intermetallic compound or the like with Au is added to a substance that is transparent to the light that propagates through the waveguide, as well as an Au thin film layer formed on the front surface of the transparent thin film layer.     摘要: The present invention relates to an acousto-optic device capable of improving the interaction efficiency for suppressing the driving power needed for SAW generation. The acousto-optic device according to the present invention a substrate showing an acousto-optic effect, first and second optical waveguides formed on the substrate to be substantially parallel with each other for propagating light, a transducer formed on the substrate for producing a surface acoustic wave to be propagated in a propagation direction along directions of the first and second optical waveguides, and a surface acoustic wave distribution structure for distributing an intensity of the surface acoustic wave from the transducer in a direction perpendicular to the propagation direction on the substrate so that maximum values develop at two points corresponding to positions of the first and second optical waveguides.
