The subject-matter of the invention is a device for electrically clamping or connecting a cable wire in the longitudinal slot of an upright terminal element, the laterally deflectable legs and lugs of which are not supported at their sides, e.g. by a plastic material. The device comprises a plunger (1) adapted to be longitudinally movable within a housing against the action of a coil spring (4) and carrying at its forward end a pressure member (1a). Said pressure member (1a) is disposed to be movable within a sleeve (3) fixed to the housing and has a shape matching the cross-sectional configuration of the terminal element. The projecting sleeve surrounds the outer faces of the components of the terminal element and supports the same laterally during the clamping operation. Furthermore the sleeve (3) comprises a cutting edge (3a) cooperating with a cutting edge formed on the pressure member (1a).

The invention relates to a surge-protected cable joint for telecommunication networks, comprising a joint casing closed at either end and having axial cable inlets, and terminal strips for the cable wires secured in the casing interior. In order to permit connection of an increased number of cable wires without increasing the external dimensions while at the same time obtaining a higher resistance to surge currents, the individual terminal strips are disposed within the joint interior in a plurality of double rows arranged in series and each row is fixedly mounted within a trough, thus resulting in a wiring free from crossover points and in an increased number of connections. The receiving troughs (2, 2a) are bolted together in pairs with their bottoms adjacent each other, and are secured to lateral connecting rails (4). These connecting rails (4) in turn are mechanically and electrically coupled via support rails (6) to one of the end walls of the joint casing (1) and via an earth cable to a connecting bolt (5). Furthermore, surge arrester magazines (8) are detachably secured, e.g. by clamping, on the individual terminal strips.

The invention relates to a protective circuit for the protection of the user from overvoltage and overcurrent, in particular for telecommunication installations. Prior art protective circuits comprise a fuse connected into the line connection, and a surge arrester with a heat-sensitive protection device, forming a cross path between the current path of the line connection and the earth conductor, the heat-sensitive protection device disconnecting the cross path in case of excessive power, and connecting it to the earth conductor.In the protective circuit according to the invention, a response of the heat-sensitive protection device (5, 6) will cause disconnection of the cross path of the surge arrester (1, 2) and closing of a short-circuit cross path (7, 8) behind the fuse (3, 4) between the line connection (a, a'; b, b') and the earth conductor (E). The protective circuit can be accommodated in a miniature plug for application in telecommunication installations.

The invention relates to a connector assembly for cables adapted to transmit signals with pulse-code modulation. The connector assembly may be used with an increased number of twin conductors either as a simple connector strip or as a pressure sealed cable termination device in conjunction with a housing member. The assembly offers sufficient electrical shielding and is of small size. To this end the connector assembly comprises a base plate (1) mounting a plurality of metal-shielded plastic housings (20). Each of the plastic housings (20) accommodates a pair of contact pins (24,24') secured in the base plate (1) in a pressure sealed and elecrically insulated manner for a twin conductor or, respectively, an individual cable, and further accommodates solderless, screwless and stripless PLUS-contact elements (13, 14, 15) electrically connected to the contact pins. At the lower surface of the base plate (1) there is provided a shielding (3) for the contact pins (24, 24') and the cable conductors (9a) fixedly connected thereto, the shielding (3) being formed of a plurality of electrically conductive partition walls (3b).
