Abstract: The disclosure relates to user equipment (UE) (700), comprising: a transceiver (701) configured to transceive radio resource control (RRC) messages between the UE (700) and a radio access network (RAN); and a radio resource controller (702) configured to activate an operation mode of the UE (700) responsive to processing a first sequence (328) of RRC messages when a non-congestion situation is indicated by the RAN, wherein the radio resource controller (702) is configured to activate the operation mode of the UE (700) responsive to processing a second sequence (525, 625) of RRC messages when a special situation, in particular a congestion situation or a power saving situation to reduce the energy consumption, is indicated by the RAN, wherein a latency for processing the second sequence (525, 625) of RRC messages is less than a latency for processing the first sequence (328) of RRC messages.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a mobile communication device (1000), comprising: a receiver (1001), configured to receive a radio signal (1002) over a radio channel, the radio signal (1002) comprising a predetermined pilot preamble; and a processor (1003), configured to determine mobility information (1004), in particular a Doppler and/or a Delay Spread, based on the pilot preamble, wherein the processor (1003) is further configured to signal the mobility information (1004) to a second communication device (1100). The disclosure further relates to a base station (1100), comprising: a receiver (1101), configured to receive mobility information (1004), in particular a Doppler and/or a Delay Spread, signaled by a mobile communication device; and a processor (1103), configured to select a numerology (301, 302, 303, 304) based on the mobility information (1004) and to generate a radio signal (1104) for transmission to the communication device (1000) based on the numerology (301, 302, 303, 304).
