Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a digital filter arrangement (DFA) for compensating group velocity dispersion (GVD) in an optical transmission system (OTS) wherein the DFA is configured to receive a sequence of samples of a digital input signal in the time domain in the form of consecutive blocks of size L. The DFA is configured to generate M discrete Fourier transforms of a current overlap block of a size N greater than the size L and of M−1 delayed versions of the current overlap block. The DFA is configured to filter the entries of the generated M discrete Fourier transforms to generate an output discrete Fourier transform with N entries, wherein the compensation filter is implemented by a delay network and a linear combination algorithm.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-channel IM-DD optical transceiver comprising at least one transmitter and a receiver, and a method for equalizing input samples at an adjusted sampling phase using a quality parameter linearly proportional to a BER. The data transmission and reception use a single master channel and slave channels, which have a baud rate equal to or lower than the baud rate of the master channel. A reliable and identical clocking of all the channels is obtained through either the receiver clock of the master channel when they are received from a single transmitter or a reference clock whose frequency is higher than the highest clock frequency amongst all the channels when they are received from a combination of transmitters. An enhanced timing recovery circuit is also provided to select optimized finite impulse response filters, calculate filter coefficients and generate the receiver clock of the master channel.

Abstract: A method for optical communication between transceivers through an optical link for chromatic dispersion pre-compensation, includes generating and sending, by a second transceiver, a first CD pre-compensated optical signal and a second CD pre-compensated optical signal, to the first transceiver through the optical link. The method further includes receiving, by a first transceiver, the first and second CD pre-compensated optical signals, and calculating a first residual chromatic dispersion (RCD) value from the received first CD pre-compensated optical signal, and a second RCD value from the received second CD pre-compensated optical signal. The method further includes calculating, by the first transceiver, a third PCD filter using the first RCD value, and a fourth PCD filter using the second RCD value. The third PCD filter and the fourth PCD filters are used to generate and send two CD pre-compensated optical signals to the second transceiver, which provides tunable CD pre-compensation capability.
