Abstract: The present invention discloses a positioning method and apparatus, which relate to the field of computer technologies and may simplify an operation of selecting a target application icon or function button and makes the operation less time-consuming. According to embodiments of the present invention, a gazed area on a screen under the gaze of a user is acquired by detecting a screen gazing operation of the user, a projection area on the screen to be pressed by the user is acquired by detecting the user's hover gesture operation of pressing the screen; when the gazed area does not include the projection area, the user's hover gesture operation of pressing the screen is re-detected to acquire the projection area on the screen to be pressed by the user; when the gazed area includes the projection area, an application icon or a function button included in a match area is processed.
