    摘要: A method of making a magnetomechanical electronic article surveillance marker is provided that, in one embodiment, includes deposition or placing of at least one elongated bias magnet onto a substrate, depositing a cavity layer onto the substrate where the cavity layer defines an elongated cavity adjacent the bias magnet. Placing a magnetomechanical resonator into the cavity and sealing a cover onto the cavity layer wherein the resonator is captured in the cavity and free to mechanically vibrate substantially unencumbered. The substrate itself may be magnetic thereby eliminating a separate bias magnet. In an alternate embodiment, a cavity is molded in a plastic substrate sized to fit a resonator, and a cover is sealed to the substrate to capture a resonator in the cavity. At least one bias magnet is placed onto the cover adjacent the cavity and a second cover is sealed to the substrate, to the first cover, and to the bias fixing the bias in place adjacent the cavity.

    摘要: A security tag including independent EAS and RFID components disposed in a housing configured for geometric placement of the RFID and EAS components for optimum RFID performance. The EAS component is situated in a first compartment and the RFID component is situated in a second compartment. The RFID component includes a hybrid antenna RFID inlay and an IC chip. The tag housing includes a key structure that minimizes the de-tuning of both the EAS and RFID components by positioning the IC chip such that the IC chip is closer to a first side of the second compartment than the second side of the second compartment when the antenna inlay is inserted within the housing. The housing further includes one or more pins that raise the RFID inlay above the magnetic resonator of the EAS component to further insure optimal RFID read performance.

    摘要: A magnetomechanical EAS tag having a bias magnet made of a high magnetostrictive material so that stress, which is a result of ordinary use of an article incorporating the tag, demagnetizes the bias rending the EAS tag inactive is provided. In an alternate embodiment a mechanical mechanism is incorporated with a conventional EAS tag to deactivate the tag upon ordinary use of an article to which the tag is associated. In yet another embodiment, a combination of the bias magnet made of a high magnetostrictive material and a mechanical deactivation mechanism is used to deactivate an EAS tag during ordinary use of an article to which the tag is associated.
