Disclosed is a shadow mask for a flat cathode ray tube capable of achieving the decrement of the phenomena of moire and the improvement of luminance and controlling a bridge shadow thereof, with an optimal design value of the vertical pitch of the apertures of the shadow mask. The shadow mask for a flat cathode ray tube has a panel glass with fluorescent materials spread on the inner surface thereof, a funnel glass fixed on the rear portion of the panel glass and having a neck portion as an integral body therewith to which an electron gun emitting electron beams to the fluorescent materials side is sealed, a deflection yoke formed on the outer peripheral surface of the neck portion and for deflecting the electron beams emitted from the electron gun, and the shadow mask fixed on the inner surface of the panel glass, having a color discrimination function and forming a plurality of slot type apertures on the surface thereof, is characterized in that the relation between the vertical pitch of the apertures on the shadow mask and the vertical pitch of the electron beams scanned on the screen is in the range of 0.053≦s/a≦0.438.

Methods are disclosed for fabricating an overlay vernier key. A method includes forming a pattern layer and an insulating layer over a semiconductor substrate. The insulating layer is etched to form insulating layer patterns to partially expose the pattern layer. Spacers are formed on sidewalls of the insulating layer patterns. The insulating layer patterns are removed while leaving the spacers to obtain a spacer-shaped etch mask. The pattern layer is etched using the spacer-shaped etch mask to form vernier patterns. At least one of the vernier patterns has a hollow shape.

A cathode ray tube having a panel with a fluorescent film made of a fluorescent material coated at the inner surface thereof; a cathode mounted in the panel and generating an electron beam; an electron beam controller for controlling and deflecting the electron beam in order to hit the fluorescent film; and a back glass attached to the panel and sealed in a state that the cathode and the electron beam controller are mounted therein, in which a ratio of a minimum thickness of a panel glass to a minimum thickness of a skirt portion of the panel is below 1.0. The full depth of the cathode ray tube is reduced and the weight of the cathode ray tube is minimized by controlling the thickness of the panel glass, the skirt portion of the panel glass and the back glass. In addition, the atmospheric pressure applied to the panel glass and the back glass is uniformly distributed to the panel glass, the back glass and the skirt portion, thereby performing a deformation.
