    Abstract: A backlight assembly with reduced thickness, a reduced number of parts and a reduced probability of causing environmental contamination includes lamps, each lamp including a lamp tube and a pair of lamp electrodes disposed at ends of the lamp tube, respectively, a lamp-driving printed circuit board (“PCB”) which includes a plurality of conductive pads and a plurality of pairs of first socket-fixing grooves and provides a driving voltage to each of the lamps, sockets, each socket including a conductive body which includes a first guide groove, into which each of the lamp electrodes is inserted, and a pair of first fixing protrusions which is inserted into each pair of the first socket-fixing grooves, and a lower case which accommodates the lamp-driving PCB, the sockets, and the lamps, wherein each of the sockets is surface-mounted on a corresponding conductive pad.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display (“LCD”) module includes a backlight assembly emitting light, a LCD panel overlapping the backlight assembly, and an upper cover. The backlight includes a light source module emitting the light, a light guide plate (“LGP”) including edges and a middle portion, and a LGP support overlapping the edges of the LGP. The LGP support includes a plurality of LGP supporting pieces connected to each other so as to form a polygonal shape, each of the LGP supporting pieces including a LGP supporting portion including a LGP supporting surface overlapping the edges of the LGP, and the LGP supporting surfaces of each of the LGP supporting pieces of the LGP support are placed on a same plane. Opposing LGP supporting pieces are interconnected by an LCD module mounting member.

    Abstract: A lamp socket that can reduce the thickness of both sides of a display device includes a socket main body having a contact hole formed therein, and a power-applying member coupled to the socket main body through the contact hole, and provided with a lamp connection terminal, an inverter connection terminal, and a terminal connection part connected with the lamp connection terminal in a bent form so as to connect the lamp connection terminal with the inverter connection terminal. Accordingly, the thickness of both sides of the display device including the lamp sockets is reduced, and the compatibility of the product is extended.
