摘要: A backlight module and a display device are disclosed. The backlight module includes a light guide structure and a light source. The light source includes a first light-emitting assembly and a second light-emitting assembly. A light receiving structure is disposed behind and corresponding to a position of the first light-emitting assembly and is configured to concentrate light emitted by the first light-emitting assembly within a predetermined angle range so that the light is directed outward from the light receiving structure. The light guide structure is disposed behind and corresponding to a position of the light receiving structure and is configured to direct outward the light concentrated in the light receiving structure through specular reflection.

摘要: An electronic device may provide foveated images at an eye box. The device may have a first display module that produces a low resolution portion of the image and a second display module that produces a high resolution portion of the image. A reflective input coupling prism may be mounted to a waveguide. A steering mirror may overlap the prism. The mirror may receive the high resolution portion through the waveguide and the prism. The mirror may reflect the high resolution portion back into the waveguide and may be adjusted to shift a location of the high resolution portion within the image. For example, the steering mirror may adjust the position of the high resolution portion to align with the gaze direction at the eye box. A reflective surface of the prism may reflect the low resolution portion of the image into the waveguide.

摘要: An electronic device may include a first and second projectors, first, second, and third waveguides, light sources, and optical sensors. The sources may emit calibration light into the third waveguide, which splits the calibration light between the first and second waveguides. Couplers on the third waveguide may couple the calibration light out of the third waveguide and partial reflectors on the first and second waveguides may reflect the calibration light back towards the optical couplers as reflected light. The couplers may provide the reflected light to the sensors, which generate electrical signals using the reflected light. Control circuitry may compare the electrical signals between different sensor locations to identify relative angles between the first waveguide, the second waveguide, the first projector, and/or the second projector. The control circuitry may use the identified relative angles to adjust projector images to compensate for optical misalignments over time.

摘要: An anamorphic directional illumination device may provide a near-eye display apparatus or a vehicle external light device. The anamorphic near-eye display apparatus comprises a spatial light modulator with asymmetric pixels, an input transverse anamorphic lens; and an extraction waveguide that passes input light in a first direction between a polarisation-sensitive reflector and front guide surface to a lateral anamorphic reflector, and to reflect the light back through the extraction waveguide to guide between the rear guide surface and front guide surface. Reflective extraction features are arranged to extract the reflected light towards the pupil of a viewer, maintaining the directionality of the fan of light rays from the spatial light modulator and anamorphic imaging system. A thin, transparent and efficient anamorphic display apparatus for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality displays and for scene illumination is provided.

摘要: A backlight for providing illumination to a liquid crystal panel includes a reflective polarizer and an extended light source. The extended light source includes a diffuse reflective film assembly and an emission surface disposed between the reflective polarizer and the diffuse reflective film assembly. The extended light source is configured to emit light through the emission surface toward the reflective polarizer. The diffuse reflective film assembly includes a specularly reflective film and an optically diffusive film disposed between the emission surface and the specularly reflective film. The optically diffusive film is bonded to the specularly reflective film at a plurality of discrete spaced apart bonded locations with a total bonding area of less than about 20%.
