    Abstract: Systems and methods for automated docking include a linkage, a docking arm located near a distal end of the linkage, a docking support mechanism, and one or more processors. The one or more processors are configured to detect a docking port using the docking support mechanism and actuate the linkage based on the detection to align the docking arm with the docking port, move the docking arm toward the docking port, and dock the docking arm to the docking port. In some embodiments, to actuate the linkage based on the detection, the one or more processors are configured to align the docking arm with an alignment point of the docking port, align an alignment axis of the docking arm with an alignment axis of the docking port, rotationally align the docking arm with the docking port, and reduce a relative distance between the docking arm and the docking port.

    Abstract: A system, e.g., a computer-aided medical system, includes a first link, a second link, a joint, and a dual brake assembly. The first link has a first end portion and a second end portion. The second link has a first end portion and a second end portion. The joint is connected to the second end portion of the first link and to the first end portion of the second link. The dual brake assembly is coupled to the first link and to the second link. The dual brake assembly includes a first brake and a second brake. Braking provided by the dual brake assembly reduces relative motion between the first and second links.

    Abstract: Techniques for motion mode management include a teleoperated system having a repositionable structure comprising a first plurality of joints, a plurality of links, and a plurality of actuators coupled to drive motion of the repositionable structure; an input control comprising a kinematic chain having a second plurality of joints, and one or more first sensors; and a control unit comprising one or more hardware processors. The control unit is configured to detect, based on information from the one or more first sensors, movement of the input control for teleoperating the repositionable structure; and in response to a determination that at least a portion of the movement of the input control includes a component of movement used to indicate that a mode of operation of the teleoperated system should be changed, temporarily disable changes in the mode of operation of the teleoperated system based on movement of the input control.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for integrated motion with an imaging device include a device having a first manipulator, a second manipulator, and a controller coupled to the first and second manipulators. When the device is in an imaging device motion mode, the controller is configured to determine whether a first portion of an instrument is located within a viewing region of an image captured by an imaging device; in response to determining that the first portion of the instrument is located within the viewing region, command a manipulator supporting the instrument to keep a position of a second portion of the instrument fixed relative to the imaging device as the imaging device moves; and in response to determining that the first portion is not within the viewing region, command the manipulator to keep the position of the second portion fixed relative to the workspace as the imaging device moves.
