Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter includes a method and system for enabling detection of signal reflection from a target designated by a pulse laser spot generated by a low-power laser designator. A signal comprising true signal portions reflected from said target and noise is received and sampled and a first value or a second value is assigned to each sample. The assigned (ith) values in K pulse rate intervals are summed to obtain respective summed values. One or more candidate clusters are identified from among the summed values and a final candidate cluster is selected from among said one or more candidate clusters. The final candidate cluster is located with respective samples of an incoming pulse rate interval, thereby detecting an area within said signal which comprises the true signal portions.

Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter includes a laser system and a respective method of detecting a signal reflected from a target illuminated by a modulated CW light source configured to generate a modulated laser signal at a predefined modulation frequency. A signal comprising true laser signal portions reflected from said target, and noise is received; the signal is filtered for selecting laser signal portions at a modulation frequency band; and the true signal portions in the signal are detected, if the energy at the modulation frequency band is greater than a given threshold.
