Abstract: The electro-optic phase modulator, intended to modulate the optical phase of an incident lightwave, includes an electro-optic substrate with an entrance face and an exit face; an optical waveguide extending between a guide entrance end located on the entrance face and a guide exit end located on the exit face, the incident lightwave being partially coupled in the waveguide into a guided lightwave propagating in an optically guided manner along the optical path of the waveguide between the entrance end and the exit end; at least two electrodes arranged at least partially along the waveguide, parallel to and on either side of the latter, defining between each other an inter-electrode gap, which allow to introduce, when a modulation voltage is applied between them, a modulation phase-shift, function of the modulation voltage, on the guided lightwave. The waveguide has one first curved guide portion between the entrance end and the electrodes.

Abstract: Disclosed is a device for interaction between a laser beam and a hyperfine energy transition of a chemical species. The device further includes an electro-optic modulator with a single sideband with an input optical waveguide suitable for receiving a source laser beam and an output optical waveguide suitable for generating an output laser beam and an electronic system suitable for generating and applying, simultaneously, a first modulated electrical signal, sin(Ω1t)) to a first hyperfrequency pulse on a first high-frequency electrode of the electro-optic modulator and, respectively, another modulated electrical signal, cos(Ω1t)) to the first pulse on another high-frequency electrode of the electro-optic modulator, in such a way as to frequency-switch the output laser beam to a first optical frequency offset from the first pulse with respect to the initial optical frequency.

Abstract: The electro-optic phase modulator intended to modulate the optical phase of a lightwave incident on the modulator, includes an electro-optic substrate having an entrance face and an exit face, an optical waveguide of refractive index (ng) higher than that (ns) of the substrate, continuously rectilinear from a guide entrance end located on the entrance face to a guide exit end located on the exit face, and which is adapted to guide the incident lightwave partially coupled in the waveguide into a guided lightwave propagating along the optical path of the waveguide between the guide entrance end and exit end, and at least two modulation electrodes arranged parallel to the waveguide, so as, when a modulation voltage (Vm(t)) is applied between these modulation electrodes, to introduce a modulation phase-shift, function of the modulation voltage, in the guided lightwave. The phase modulator further includes elements for the electric polarization of the substrate.
