Abstract:
An exemplary embodiment of a system for updating electronic shelf labels (ESLs) comprises multiple ESLs, and a gateway connected to the multiple ESLs to update data of the multiple ESLs. Each ESL comprises a transceiver having a media condition detector to detect whether other ESL(s) perform an update at the time slot, a controller, a memory, and a random number generator randomly selecting one of multiple time slots of a frame when an ESL update procedure begins, wherein the time slot corresponds to an index stored in the memory by the controller. The ESL performs the update at this time slot when none of said other ESL(s) performs the update at the time slot. When said other ESL(s) performs the update at the time slot, the controller enables the random number generator to randomly select another time slot from a next time frame.

A resident activity recognition method is provided. The method comprises: receiving a plurality of first testing data from a plurality of sensors by a processor, wherein the first testing data includes a present weight set of sensors and present trigger statuses of sensors; determining an activity of a non-target resident at a present time by the processor according to a non-target resident model and the first testing data; reducing a part of the present weight set to generate an updated weight set and a second testing data including the updated weight set and the present trigger statuses by the processor according to the activity of the non-target resident at the present time, the first testing data and the non-target resident model; determining an activity of a target resident at the present time by the processor according to a target resident model and the second testing data.

An electronic shelf label controlling system, an electronic shelf label installing method and an electronic shelf label updating method are provided. The electronic shelf label controlling system of the electronic shelf label includes at least an electronic shelf label, a controlling device, a deploying device, and a communication gateway device. The electronic shelf label is disposed on a shelf. The controlling device stores a label location table. The label location table records a relationship between a label identifying information and a label location information of the electronic shelf label. The deploying device is used for obtaining the label identifying information. The communication gateway device is used for communicating the controlling device, the deploying device and the electronic shelf label.

A transmission rate determination method for streaming media is disclosed. The transmission rate determination method includes the following steps: collecting a location message, a time message, a communication parameter information and a transmission bit rate of a mobile device; updating a database of streaming throughput according to the location message, the time message, the communication parameter information and the transmission bit rate; wherein the database of streaming throughput includes information regarding a plurality of regions. The information of each of the plurality of regions includes an average transmission rate. The average transmission rate is related to the location message, the time message, the communication parameter information and the transmission bit rate.
