Abstract: Methods and device to implement the use of proximity sensor data and time-averaging specific absorption rate methods in determining whether to apply or remove a power back-off to a radio frequency transmitter. The methods and devices may be configured to detect whether a body is proximately located based on obtained proximity sensor data; define an upper threshold for a radio frequency (RF) transmit power and a lower threshold for the RF transmit power; calculate an average power of an RF transmitter over a fixed time period; and based on whether the body is detected, the average power, and a comparison of the average power to the upper threshold or the lower threshold, determine whether to apply or remove a power back-off to the RF transmitter.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are devices, methods, and systems for adjusting transmit properties based on compliance metrics for human exposure to radiation. As one example, the system determines a first transmission power limit associated with transmissions on a first radio resource, wherein the first transmission power limit is based on a first compliance level threshold of human exposure to emitted radiation when using the first radio resource. The system determines a second transmission power limit associated with transmissions on a second radio resource, wherein the second transmission power limit is based on a second compliance level threshold of human exposure to emitted radiation when transmitting using the second radio resource. The system also controls a wireless device to select either the first radio resource or the second radio resource for a transmission from the wireless device based on the first transmission power limit and the second transmission power limit.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are devices, systems, and methods for an antenna system that may be used not only for wireless communications but also for other antenna-based applications such as proximity sensing, ranging, and angle of arrival measurements. The antenna system includes a plurality of antenna groups that include a first antenna group and a second antenna group. The first antenna group includes a parasitic element and a radiating element fed by a antenna port. The second antenna group includes a second parasitic element and a second radiating element fed by a second antenna port. The antenna system also includes a ground plane coupled to the first antenna group and the second antenna group. The first antenna group may be separated from and mirrored by the second antenna group.

Abstract: This disclosure presents methods and devices that implement dynamic transmit power control techniques in terminal devices with multiple radio frequency (RF) transmitters and/or in a multi-terminal device environment to comply with regulatory RF exposure limits and standards while enhancing device performance. For example, the present disclosure provides a device including a processor configured to monitor a transmit power for each of a plurality of transmitters; determine a transmit power reduction to be applied to the plurality of transmitters based on a total simultaneous transmit power of the plurality of transmitters exceeding a threshold; define a respective amount of the transmit power reduction to be applied to each transmitter of the plurality of transmitters based on one or more parameters; and apply the respective amount of the transmit power reduction to each transmitter of the plurality of transmitters.

Abstract: A wireless communication device includes one or more processors, configured to determine one or more first transmission power measurements within a first transmission power measurement sampling period; calculate a first transmission power factor, the first transmission power factor representing a central tendency of the one or more first transmission power measurements from the first power measurement sampling period; determine a second power measurement during a second transmission power measurement sampling period; and calculate a second transmission power factor, wherein the second transmission power factor is a central tendency of at least one of the one or more first power measurements and the second power measurement.
