摘要: A method and device are disclosed for treating congestive heart disease. The material of the device is secured to the heart proximate the septal wall. The material covering the ventricles may or may not have the same tension and or compliance. The device can be constructed as a unitary “jacket” that is slipped over the apex of the heart. Alternately, the device implanted as one, two or more separate components. In one embodiment, the material covers both the left and right ventricles. In another embodiment, the material covers only one ventricle. The device may include at least one adjustment mechanism configured to adjust the tension of the material. Preferably, the device includes a first adjustment mechanism configured to adjust a tension of the material covering the right ventricle and a second adjustment mechanism configured to adjust the tension of the material covering the left ventricle such that the tension of the material covering the left ventricle can be different than the tension of the material covering the right ventricle.

摘要: A device for treating cardiac disease is provided. The device includes biologically compatible material, an electrotherapy instrument, and a placement apparatus capable of capable of releasably securing a lead of the electrotherapy instrument to the biologically compatible material. In one embodiment, the biologically compatible material is a patch that is configured to be secured to the epicardial surface of the heart. In an alternate embodiment, the biologically compatible material is constructed as a jacket of flexible material designed to be secured to the heart. Examples of electrotherapy instruments include a cardiac pacing device and a defibrillating device.

摘要: A method of treating regurgitation of a mitral valve in a patient's heart. The method includes the steps of: delivering a tissue shaping device to the coronary sinus; and deploying the tissue shaping device to reduce mitral valve regurgitation, the deploying step comprising applying a force through the coronary sinus wall toward the mitral valve solely proximal to a crossover point where a coronary artery passes between a coronary sinus and the mitral valve. The invention is also a set of devices for use in treating mitral valve regurgitation. The set includes a plurality of tissue shaping devices having different lengths, each of the tissue shaping devices being configured to be deliverable to a coronary sinus of a patient within a catheter having an outer diameter no greater than ten french.
