摘要: Methods and apparatus to enhance levels of oxygen in tear fluid under a worn advanced contact lens are described. The advanced contact lens may include an insert which is impermeable to fluid flow across its body. The method of enhancement may include creating pores through the insert, creating channels in portions of the contact lens body, including layers of absorptive material, including devices to generate or release oxygen or means of moving tear fluid under the contact lens.

摘要: Designs, strategies and methods for forming tube shaped batteries are described. In some examples, hermetic seals may be used to seal battery chemistry within the tube-shaped batteries. This may improve biocompatibility of energization elements. In some examples, the tube form biocompatible energization elements may be used in a biomedical device. In some further examples, the tube form biocompatible energization elements may be used in a contact lens.

摘要: Methods and systems for adaptive configuration of ophthalmic devices are disclosed. An example method may comprise receiving, by a first sensor system disposed on or in a first ophthalmic device, sensor data representing movement of an eye of a user, wherein the first ophthalmic device is disposed within or upon an eye of the user; causing, based on the sensor data, storage of a history of movement of the eye; determining, based on the history of movement, a dwell characteristic indicating a distance at which the eye is fixated when an event occurs; and causing output of a signal indicative of performing an action in response to determining the dwell characteristic.

摘要: A powered ophthalmic lens having an electronic system is described herein configured to communicate with an external device using an ultrasound module for creating a sound pressure wave(s) to be transmitted through a medium, e.g. air, to an external device. The ophthalmic lens includes at least one ultrasound module having at least one transducer such as a pair of transmit and receive transducers, a transceiver transducer or a plurality of transducers. The ultrasound module includes additional components for the creation and reception of the sound pressure wave(s). In an alternative embodiment, there is one ultrasound module with a multiplexer connected to a plurality of transducers. In at least one embodiment, the sound pressure wave(s) encodes a message from the external device to the contact lens. In at least one alternative embodiment, the sound pressure wave(s) encodes a message from the contact lens to the external device.

摘要: A variable focus ophthalmic device is described. The device comprises a front curve optical portion of the variable focus ophthalmic device comprising a front curve top optical surface and a front curve bottom optical surface and a back curve optical portion of the variable focus ophthalmic device comprising a back curve top optical surface and a back curve bottom optical surface. A cavity is formed by the front curve bottom optical surface of the front curve optical portion of the variable ophthalmic device and the back curve top optical surface of the back curve portion of the variable focus ophthalmic device. A fluid with a first index of refraction and a dielectric film is in contact with at least a portion of the fluid with a first index of refraction and overlaying an electrode capable of establishing an electric field. A gas with a second index of refraction is provided, wherein the first index of refraction and the second index of refraction are different. One or more reservoir regions operable to change its volume for containment of a volume less than or equal to the volume of said fluid are provided and wherein the reservoir is in fluid connection with said formed cavity.
