    Abstract: A modified expanded bead that includes an expanded bead which includes a specific base polymer (β) and a coating layer which includes a specific base polymer (α). The coating layer covers at least part of an outer surface of the expanded bead. The melting point Tα of the base polymer (α) and the melting point Tβ of the base polymer (β) satisfy a relationship of 0≤Tα−Tβ≤20. When the modified expanded bead is cut into two halves along a cutting plane to form two half portions and thereafter one of the two half portions is cut along planes perpendicular to the cutting plane to form ten small pieces, outermost pieces among the ten small pieces have a xylene-insoluble content (B) which is less than a xylene-insoluble content (A) in the half portion and the xylene-insoluble content (A) is 10-80% by mass.

    Abstract: Provided is an expanded propylene resin bead including a core layer in a foamed state, which includes a propylene-based resin composition (a) satisfying the following (i) and (ii); and a cover layer which includes an olefin-based resin (b) satisfying the following (iii) or (iv): (i) the propylene-based resin composition (a) is a mixture of 65% by weight to 98% by weight of a propylene-based resin (a1) having a melting point of 145° C. to 165° C. and a flexural modulus of 1,200 MPa or more and 35% by weight to 2% by weight of a propylene-based resin (a2) having a melting point of 100° C. to 145° C. and a flexural modulus of 800 MPa to 1,200 MPa; (ii) a difference in a melting point between the resin (a1) and the resin (a2) is 5° C. to 25° C.; (iii) the olefin-based resin (b) is a crystalline olefin-based resin having a melting point (TmB) that is lower than a melting point (TmA) of the composition (a) and being in a relation of (0° C.

    Abstract: The present invention provides expanded beads of thermoplastic polyurethane, wherein the thermoplastic polyurethane constituting the expanded beads is an ether-based thermoplastic polyurethane, and a difference (T1−T2) between a melting peak temperature (T1) and a melting peak temperature (T2) is from 0 to 8° C., wherein the melting peak temperature (T1) is a melting peak temperature at the time of first heating in a DSC curve obtained by heating the expanded beads from 20° C. to 260° C. at a heating rate of 10° C./min, the melting peak temperature (T2) is a melting peak temperature at the time of second heating in a DSC curve obtained by cooling from 260° C. to 20° C. at a cooling rate of 10° C./min after the first heating and further heating again from 20° C. to 260° C. at a heating rate of 10° C./min, and the DSC curves are obtained by the heat flux differential scanning calorimetry in conformity with JIS K7121-1987. The expanded beads of thermoplastic polyurethane not only have excellent surface appearance and fusion bonding properties but also have a low shrinkage factor.
