    摘要： A resilient rail fastener having a clip having a lower leg with a toe at one end and a heel at the other, an upstanding back portion between the heel and an upper leg, and a rectangular locating aperture in at least one of its legs which engages over a rectangular retaining block. The retaining block has pressure imparting means projecting from each side and bearing downwardly on the upper leg of the clip and thereby applies a downward pressure at each end of the lower leg. One end of the lower leg bears downwardly on the rail support and the other end on the rail to impart a toe pressure. The reduced cross-sectional area of the clip where it passes over the retaining block causes high stresses in the legs of the clip as well as at the locality of the clip heel, and the upstanding back portion has less stress than a hairpin clip, and this results in a lower spring rate for the toe clip so that toe pressure is retained upon rail settlement, and stress corrosion is reduced.

    摘要： Aspects are disclosed for determining refractive error. In an aspect, a line pattern is displayed to a user, and a distance between the line pattern and the user is ascertained. The line pattern includes a first and second line in which an aspect of the line pattern is varied, and where refractive error is quantified based on the distance and a selected variance of the line pattern. In another aspect, the varied aspect of the line is at least one of a width between the first and second line, a thickness of the first or second line, a darkness of the first line or the second line, or a color of the first line or the second line. An input corresponding to a focused line pattern variance selected by the user is then received, and a refractive error is quantified based on the input and an approximate distance between the line pattern and the user.

    摘要： A stapling tool for hardwood flooring staples and hardwood tongue and groove flooring planks is disclosed. The tool has a body that includes a body base surface, a stop surface, a body top surface and a staple slot. The tool has a rod assembly that includes a hammering head and a staple driving head. A hardwood flooring staple, inserted into the staple slot, followed by the staple driving head, is guided by the staple slot. In response to impact force received by the hammering head from a head of a hammer, the staple driving head drives the hardwood flooring staple into an external angle formed by the tongue and the outside edge of the plank. The staple may be inserted from beyond a plane defined by the body top surface. The staple slot may be at an angle greater than 45 degrees, less than or equal to 85 degrees.

    摘要： An assembly is disclosed for securing a railroad rail to a base plate with a resilient fastener clip. The base plate is heated, punched and reforged to provide a clip locking shoulder which includes an aperture through the base plate and an undercut in the shoulder formed by first and second clip engaging surfaces forming a generally V-shaped clip interlock. The fastener clip is of generally U-shape configuration having an upper limb and lower limb interconnected by a heel portion. The lower limb terminates in a clip lock of generally V-shaped configuration complementary to the clip interlock of the clip shoulder and the clip interlock terminates in a clip lead-in formed at an angle complementary to the angulation of the first clip engaging surface.
