Ink is stored in ink chambers respectively formed between the levers of the pairs of parallel levers. By applying an electric current to each lever in the magnetic field formed by the pair of permanent magnets, a Lorentz force affects each lever to move closer to the other one of the pair of parallel levers. Accordingly, the ink is jetted onto printing paper to execute a printing operation.

In the printhead, a manifold for supplying ink and a concave ink chamber is integrated with a substrate by being recessed from the same surface of the substrate, and a nozzle palate on the substrate in which a nozzle is formed and a round-shaped heater surrounding the nozzle are integrated without a complex process such as bonding. Thus, this simplifies the manufacturing procedure and facilitates high volume production. Furthermore, the round-shaped heater forms a doughnut-shaped bubble to eject ink, thereby preventing a back flow of ink as well as formation of satellite droplets which may degrade image resolution.

The driving part has a working fluid chamber and a heating element. The membrane serves as a partition between the ink chamber and the working fluid chamber. The working fluid chamber has an ink feeding hole through which the ink is fed from an external ink source. An intercommunicating hole is formed on the ink chamber, intercommunicated with the working fluid chamber. The ink is fed into the working fluid chamber and is fed to the ink chamber through an intercommunicating passage. During the heating operation of the heating element, the ink chamber is pressured by the membrane, so that the ink is jetted through the nozzle hole. The ink in the working fluid chamber flows into the ink chamber through the intercommunicating passage, and the ink flows into the working fluid chamber through the ink feeding hole. Accordingly, the working fluid chamber is cooled, and the durability of the fluid jetting apparatus is lengthened.

The ink tank includes a tank body, a sponge disposed in the tank body, for absorbing and storing ink, an air flow member positioned above the sponge, for guiding air outside the ink tank to be induced into the ink tank, a nozzle coupled to one end of the air flow member, for supplying air outside the ink tank to the ink tank, and an air flow hole formed at one side of the tank body connected to the other end of the air flow member, and opened/closed by a sealing means installed on a printer frame according to the movement of the carrier and the ink tank. The air outside the ink tank is supplied only during the printing operation, thereby preventing evaporation of moisture contained in the ink stored in the ink tank. Also, the internal pressure of the ink tank is adjusted to be lower than the atmospheric pressure, thereby preventing leaking of ink.

The method includes forming resistive heater elements on a substrate, forming a patterned electrode layer on the resultant structure, forming an insulating layer over the resultant structure, forming barrier walls on the resultant structure and attaching a nozzle plate on the resultant structure. The method may further include etching a hole in the insulating layer, forming a second electrode layer over the etched insulating layer to contact the resistive heater elements and forming a second insulating layer thereon, where the barrier walls and then the nozzle plate are formed on top of the second insulating layer. The barrier walls group together resistive heater elements in pairs and form barriers between different pairs of resistive heater elements.
