摘要： A flange protector for use with flanged pipe, pressure vessels and the like, having a peripheral flange with an outer peripheral surface and a central opening for the pipe or vessel and having holes in the flange for receiving bolts. The flange protector comprises a sheet-form plastic cover member with a dished central portion fitted into the central opening of the flange and a portion extending radially outward to cover the flange and the holes therein and an edge portion extending normal thereto to cover at least part of the peripheral surface of the flange. The radially extending cover portion is secured to the flange by the flange holes. The flange is a female flange with holes therein, the cover member radially extending portion has indentations or hollow protrusions fitting into each of the flange holes, each having an aperture with fasteners positioned therein extending into the flange holes to secure the cover member in place.

摘要： There is provided a method for fabricating a dual alloy structure that may in turn be machined to fabricate a rotary component such as an impeller for use in a gas turbine engine. The method provides a first titanium alloy and a second titanium alloy. The first titanium alloy displays characteristics, such as high strength, suitable for application in the bore area of an impeller. The second titanium alloy displays characteristics, such as high temperature creep resistance, suitable for use in the outer radial area of an impeller. A bore subelement is fabricated from the first titanium alloy. A body subelement is fabricated from the second titanium alloy. The bore subelement and body subelement are joined by inertia welding at a common welding surface. Each subelement and/or the resulting welded structure is heat treated to achieve a desired microstructure.

摘要： Liquid toner conditioning apparatus for use in an electrophotographic color printer and including a stabilizing roller positioned adjacent to the surface of a photoconductive drum and operative for transforming discrete color toner particles on the surface of the drum into a stabilized unitary polymeric film structure which may be directly transferred onto an adjacent print medium. Advantageously, the stabilizing roller will include an inner core member which may be heated as well as connected to a source of either AC bias or DC bias or both. This stabilizing and toner conditioning roller further includes a soft elastomeric roller cover positioned around the periphery of the inner core member and has a smooth outer surface which makes direct contact with the developed toner layers on the surface of the adjacent photoconductive drum.

摘要： A method and apparatus is provided to analyze a dual wall structure having at least one hollow core therein and having the same unknown material sound velocities in walls and in post as well. A transducer is located in at least two different positions with respect to the structure, whereby the transducer propagates an ultrasonic wave toward the dual wall structure. A portion of the ultrasonic wave is reflected back to the transducer. One wave traverses a portion of the dual wall structure that has a core filled with a medium having a known material acoustic property. A second wave traverses a portion of the post that has an unknown material sound velocity. From time of flight measurements of the above mentioned waves, the wall thickness and core shift, if any, can be determined.

摘要： A process and apparatus for uniformly compressing pre-crimped electric conductive metal foil ribbon to achieve a high density of crimps per unit length and an increased ratio of crimp depth-to-pitch between successive crimps is disclosed. The apparatus forms an elongated passageway adapted to slidably receive a crimped foil ribbon therein. The bottom portion of a pre-crimped foil ribbon positioned in the passageway is releasably held in place. A probe is inserted through a slot in the cover plate on the apparatus into a crimp in the ribbon and the probe and crimps are moved toward the portion of the ribbon being held in place to compress the moved crimped portion.Release of holding pressure on the bottom portion of the foil ribbon allows the compressed foil to be advanced and the process is repeated until the desired length of compressed crimped foil is produced.

摘要： A shroud is provided for separating an air turbine starter housing from a turbine wheel. The shroud comprises a ring and a bumper. The ring is configured to be disposed between the turbine wheel and the housing and has an outer peripheral surface and an inner peripheral surface that defines a flow channel. The bumper is coupled to and extends radially inwardly from the ring inner peripheral surface and defines a bumper section of the ring flow channel. At least a portion of the bumper section has a cross-sectional flow area that is less than another cross sectional flow area of the ring flow channel.

摘要： An apparatus for containing and dispensing toilet paper. The apparatus holds the toilet paper roll in a stationary position as the loose paper end is pulled from the inner core of the paper roll. A housing for containing the paper roll is attached to a base, and a cover engaged with the housing compresses the paper roll against the base. This compression prevents sag of the layered toilet paper roll as the void in the paper core becomes enlarged.
