Abstract:
The invention relates to a rotary switching device having a conical chamber permitting modification of the supply to the apparatus to which it is allocated, by reversing the fluids or the directions of circulation of the fluids in the ducts. This switching device comprises: a principal hollow conical body of revolution (10), provided with a plurality of inlet and outlet ports (11) for the fluids intended to be connected to apparatuses by arrival and departure ducts for the said fluids; a conical chamber valve member of revolution having the same conicity as the interior of the body (10), the axis (9) of the body and of the chamber valve member being coincident, this chamber including at least one switching stage, constituted by a plurality of windows cooperating with the aperture of the ports (11) of the body, and at least one internal partition delimiting at least two distinct spaces constituting the channels of the stage; a means for displacing (19) the chamber valve member (26) along its axis (9) to permit the driving-in and the release of the said chamber valve member from the internal wall of the body (10); a means for rotating (70) the chamber valve member about its axis (9) to permit a change in orientation; a sealing means disposed around the windows of the chamber valve member.
Abstract:
An apparatus is disclosed for feeding a rotary filter with suspension by continuous flow to separate the solid and liquid phases of the suspension. The rotary filter apparatus includes at least one disc having filtering surfaces formed of a plurality of sectors fixed on a hollow horizontal driveshaft passing through the axis of the disc. The sectors are arranged to dip sequentially into a trough containing the suspension. The driveshaft serves for discharge of the liquid phase, and includes distributor means providing filtration, drainage and blowing stages acting sequentially on the sectors during the rotation of the discs. The apparatus for continuously feeding the suspension to the rotary filter includes (a) a suspension feed chamber provided with a suspension intake and two regulatable outlet openings; (b) two horizontal feed channels, each communicating with one of the outlet openings, each of the feed channels being disposed along a face of the disc opposite to the other feed channel, above the horizontal plane passing through the axis of rotation of the driveshaft, and extending horizontally no further than the axis of rotation; (c) each horizontal channel being formed by at least a side wall and a floor which is provided with means for regulating the distribution of the suspension over the corresponding surface of the disc by adjusting the distance between the floor and the corresponding face of the disc.
Abstract:
A filtration sector for making up a filtration disc comprising a rigid frame imparting its shape thereto, supports for filter cloth within the frame and a member for connection to a hollow driveshaft of a rotary filter, said shaft containing liquid and gaseous fluid collectors, which is characterized in that said sector is of an increasing internal thickness from its peripheral end to its end in the vicinity of the hollow driveshaft (2).
Abstract:
An apparatus for retaining a liquid phase which may include solid materials between a fixed wall and a rotary member passing therethrough. A seal is thereby provided which eliminates friction while accepting limited leakage of the liquid phase. The apparatus includes:(a) a partition member which is fixed with respect to the rotary member and the periphery of which has at least one planar surface which is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rotary member. This forms a bearing surface, and a surface which is concentric to the axis and which is joined to the bearing surface;(b) a retaining ring which is positioned on the planar surface and the concentric surface of the partition member, and which is fixed with respect to the rotary member; and,(c) a collar joined to the wall and having an inside diameter that is at least equal to the outside diameter of the ring. The collar is longitudinally positioned on the wall through which the rotary member passes, and has an adjusting and locking device for preventing rotation thereof.
