摘要: Using a user interface to allow payment for physical or virtual goods to be made through a physical object. A method may be practiced in a computing system including a user interface. The method includes detecting a payment physical object, and payment capabilities associated with the payment physical object. User input is received. The user input includes at least one of physically dragging a physical object to the detected physical object, or graphically dragging the physical or a virtual object to the detected payment physical object by dragging a graphical representation of the physical or the virtual object to the detected payment physical object. Payment for the physical or virtual object is facilitated using the payment capabilities associated with the payment physical object.

摘要: A storage is provided for an interactive display system that both provides a graphic display and responds to objects disposed proximate to or in contact with a display surface. Due to a limited available volume within a housing of the interactive display system, the storage is provided either external to the housing, or within a peripheral portion of the housing so as not to interfere with the operation of the interactive display system. In one embodiment, a sheet of flexible material is coupled to an exterior surface of the housing. Elastomeric edges of the sheet are pulled away from the housing to provide access to a volume disposed between the sheet and the external surface of the housing. In another embodiment, pockets are formed within a sheet hung from a backing, adjacent to the external surface. Yet another embodiment includes a drawer within a peripheral portion of the display.

摘要: A method of interacting with a computing device via one or more inking instruments to generate digital ink may include the steps of emitting light from a light emitting device to an inking instrument, receiving first user inputs from the inking instrument, and identifying the inking instrument based on sensed light reflected from the inking instrument. Another method may include the steps of simultaneously detecting first user inputs from a first inking instrument and second user inputs from a second inking instrument by receiving first light emitted from the first inking instrument and second light emitted from a second inking instrument that each have one or more identifying characteristics, identifying the inking instrument based on their identifying characteristics, and generating corresponding digital ink. These methods may be implemented via computer-executable instructions and may be used with a horizontally-placed display, tablet-based laptop computers, and passive or active digital inking instruments.

摘要: An interactive display that uses a planar radiation guide (such as a planar light guide) to perform display and/or imaging. The planar radiation guide has a radiation propagation portion and a radiation interface portion. The radiation propagation portion propagates the radiation by the principles of total internal reflection (with perhaps some minor leakage). The planar radiation guide also has a radiation interface portion where radiation is more apt to exit or enter the planar radiation guide. The interactive display performs both display and imaging, while the planar radiation guide is used to perform at least one (but perhaps both) of the display and imaging operations.

摘要: A user input device includes one or more user controls that enable a user to selectively imports bits of data by activating the control when the user input devices proximate to a display surface of an interactive display system. By depressing or otherwise activating a user control, the user causes an element within the user input device to move through a plane of change so that the state of a parameter sensed by the interactive display system changes and is detected. In the examples provided, the parameter relates to infrared light that is reflected or absorbed or produced by a component of the user input device and is thus detected by an infrared sensitive camera. The input can be a single bit, or comprise a plurality of bits corresponding to a specific pattern.
