摘要: A plastic linerless closure for sealing a container includes an integrated sealing mechanism forming at least a part of the top of the closure. The sealing mechanism includes a primary sealing region including a primary sealing flange adapted to engage the top of the container neck during application of the closure, an inner sealing region having an outwardly facing sealing surface which is situated contiguous with the inner surface of the container neck during application of the closure to the container neck and a central non-planar, e.g. concave, region. The inner sealing region is connected in an integrated manner to the primary sealing region and the central region, and the primary sealing flange is connected to the closure top by a hinge region. In operation, the primary and inner sealing regions as well as the non-planar central region of the integrated sealing mechanism act with mechanical linkage to effect a top seal between the primary sealing flange and the container neck top and an inner seal between the outwardly facing sealing surface of the inner sealing region and the container neck inner surface.

摘要: A plastic linerless closure for sealing a container includes an integrated sealing mechanism forming at least a part of the top of the closure. The sealing mechanism includes a primary sealing region including a primary sealing flange adapted to engage the top of the container neck during application of the closure, an inner sealing region having an outwardly facing sealing surface which is situated contiguous with the inner surface of the container neck during application of the closure to the container neck and a central non-planar, e.g. concave, region. The inner sealing region is connected in an integrated manner to the primary sealing region and the central region, and the primary sealing flange is connected to the closure top by a hinge region. In operation, the primary and inner sealing regions as well as the non-planar central region of the integrated sealing mechanism act with mechanical linkage to effect a top seal between the primary sealing flange and the container neck top and an inner seal between the outwardly facing sealing surface of the inner sealing region and the container neck inner surface.

摘要: A safety closure of the type having a unitary construction with a closed top from which an interiorly threaded skirt depends and a container having an exteriorly threaded neck on which the closure is mounted in sealing relationship. The safety closure has one or more locking members formed integrally therewith which are movable under the action of actuating apparatus between a non-locking position and a locking position in which the locking members engage appropriate corresponding locking elements provided on the neck of the container. The actuating apparatus is constituted by the top of the closure which has a dish-like configuration formed such that the application of a sufficient finger pressure on the top will result in the movement of the locking members from the locking to the non-locking position.

摘要: A child-resistant closure member adapted to be threadedly fastened onto the neck of a container is formed of a deformable material and has a top and an integral peripheral skirt on the inwardly facing surface of which screw threads are formed to allow the closure member to be rotatably screwed onto the container neck. A locking member having a locking portion is integrally formed with the closure member so as to be movable between a first position wherein the locking portion extends into the interior space defined by the skirt and a second position wherein the locking portion is withdrawn from the interior space. In a preferred embodiment, the locking member is constituted by a segment of the peripheral skirt itself and a radial segment of the closure top which is integral with and forms a continuation of the peripheral skirt segment. The locking portion extends into a slot formed in the neck of the container when the locking member is in the first position to prevent rotation of the closure member with respect to the neck of the container.

摘要: A closure for a container includes a closed top, a peripheral skirt and an integral engagement portion which extends from the closure top having an outer sidewall which is spaced radially inwardly from the inner sidewall of the skirt a distance sufficient such that the container neck is receivable in the space therebetween. A mechanism is provided by which the engagement portion is expanded radially outwardly either during or after the application of the closure to the container to urge the sidewall of the engagement portion tightly into engagement with the inner sidewall of the container neck to provide a friction locking and/or hermetic sealing of the closure to the container. In another embodiment, locking means are provided on the inner sidewall of the closure skirt which allows the closure to be twisted onto the container but which prevents the closure from being twisted in the opposite direction thereby locking the closure onto the container. A mechanism for selectively disengaging the locking means from the container is provided when access to the container contents is desired. Other embodiments using the principles of the invention are also disclosed.

The tamper-indicating device may be, for example, chemically activated to change colors when acted upon by the vented gas or may be mechanically activated so that venting of the pressurized gas causes a visibly apparent disruption, distortion or the like to indicate initial unsealing of the container.

摘要: A safety device for a hypodermic needle includes a hollow cylindrical portion, having an annular groove therein, disposed around the neck of a hypodermic syringe; a truncated conical surface disposed on the shoulder of the syringe; and a flexible projection abutting the neck. When a sheathed hypodermic needle engages the syringe, the safety device, via the groove therein, engages the sheath and is subsequently removed therewith. Upon recapping the needle, the conical surface shields the user from accidental puncture. Upon disengaging the sheathed needle from the syringe, the flexible projection closes behind the needle, retaining it in the sheath. Other embodiments of the invention include shields for precluding accidental needle puncture, and flexible projections for securing the needle in the sheath.
