    摘要： A refill filter cartridge for a liquid fuel filter includes a semi-rigid plastic "blister" having an open end closed by a cover member to define a fluid receiving compartment. A pleated paper filter medium in the compartment divides the latter into inlet and outlet portions which communicate with openings in the cover member. The filter housing includes a base and a cup-shaped glass housing that cooperates with the base to define a chamber which receives the plastic blister when the refill cartridge is installed in the filter. The cover member defines cooperating surfaces which engage the base and the glass housing so that the glass housing clamps the cover member between the glass housing and the filter base. The plastic blister is shaped to conform to the inner walls of the housing so that the housing engages the walls of the blister throughout their entire area. Accordingly, the glass housing serves as a support for the blister, so that the latter can withstand fluid pressure forces that would normally rupture the blister. In this way, a relatively inexpensive plastic blister can be used instead of a glass housing in the refill, and the filtering medium can be sealed to the sides of the blister instead of being sealed directly to the housing. Accordingly, the glass housing can be used over and over again, and need not be thrown away when the filter is changed.

    摘要： A clutch filter for filtering a fluid and a method for installing a filter member on the clutch filter are provided. The clutch filter includes a conduit member having an inlet end and an outlet end. The clutch filter further includes a filter member configured to be removably disposed about an exterior of the conduit member wherein an inner surface of the filter member and an exterior surface of the conduit member are in a spaced relationship. Finally, the clutch filter includes a collection vessel coupled to the outlet end of the conduit member. The collection vessel defines a first area in fluid communication with the outlet end. A second area is defined between the inner surface of the filter member and the exterior surface of the conduit member that is in fluid communication with the first area. A portion of the exterior surface of the filter member is not covered by the collection vessel. The collection vessel is configured to induce the fluid passing into the inlet end of the conduit member to change its flow direction in order to exit the clutch filter via the filter member and particulate solids in the fluid being either deposited in the first or second areas or filtered by the filter member.

    摘要： A clutch dust filtration apparatus, for filtering solid particles out of a mixture of air and suspended solids, includes a conduit member, a collection vessel, and a filter member. The conduit member includes a hollow transfer tube and a transverse collar extending outwardly from the transfer tube. The collection vessel has an open end and a closed end, and is indirectly connected to the conduit member. The outlet of the conduit member is spaced away from the closed end of the collection vessel. The filter member is attached to the collection vessel. Incoming air from the conduit member is required to make a sharp turn, in order to exit the apparatus via the filter member. This sharp turn causes solid material to drop out of the mixture and to be collected in the collection vessel.

    摘要： An air cleaner for a heavy duty vehicle comprises a container having an open end for receiving a filter cartridge, and a removable closure for the open end. The closure includes a first portion which defines a central opening which is removably secured to the open end by circumferentially spaced bolts and a second portion comprising an air valve housing which is mounted on the first portion through a swivel connection to permit the air valve housing to pivot relative to the container without removal of the bolts. The air valve housing includes a pair of inlets connected to different air sources, such as to ambient outside air and to heated engine air respectively, and a valve mechanism which opens one of the inlets while the other is closed. Air communicating through the open inlet is communicated through the central opening into the container.
