摘要： A bolt carrier for use with the AR15/M16 family of firearms is provided. The bolt carrier includes an integrally formed carrier key and spherical strike face surrounded by a cylindrical counterbore made with a downward angle to act against the tilting force imparted by the operating rod of the firearm's gas operating system. The outer surface of the carrier includes upper and lower running rails that all extend fully to the front face of the carrier to lengthen the carrier's rail support or bearing surfaces against the receiver. To improve the robust operation of the firearm in over the beach operations, the bottom and rear of the receiver extension has drain holes formed through which water is forced out of the receiver extension by the reciprocating action of the bolt carrier when the weapon is fired. In dry conditions, the firearm is protected against jamming by relief or sand cuts formed in the running rails which provide recesses for dirt to accumulate during operation so as not to interfere with movement of the bolt assembly.

摘要： An adjustable gas block for a gas operated firearm offering a means to adjust a volume of gas directed to the host rifle's operating system. The adjustable gas block provides two positions of adjustment that are selectable based on the presence of a pressure increasing device being mounted on the firearm. A first position provides an optimal volume of gas into the gas operating system absent a back pressure increasing device. A second position usable in the presence of a back pressure increasing device causing venting of a portion of the volume of gas into a secondary chamber prior to release into the atmosphere. The amount of gas received by the operating system due to venting is reduced to a volume that is substantially equal to the volume of gas that would be received by the operating system absent a back pressure increasing device.

摘要： A firing pin safety catch mechanism for a firearm, especially an auto-loading firearm which operates with a closed action such as found on the United States Military's M16 and its various derivatives. The firearm includes a firing pin which is housed within a bolt carrier group and which is capable of being moved from a rest position in which its proximal end is out of the travel path of the hammer to a firing position. The safety catch mechanism includes a safety catch, a pin and a spring for biasing the safety catch to hold the firing pin in its rest position to prevent the unintentional movement of the firing pin and thereby prevent the unintentional discharge of the host firearm. The safety catch includes a cam surface cooperating with the hammer so that the catch is released from engagement with the firing pin when the hammer has substantially completed its path of travel.

摘要： An ambidextrously operated bolt catch assembly for a firearm facilitates ease of use by either right handed or left handed shooters. The ambidextrous bolt catch assembly includes two levers, one on each side of the firearm, that interact with each other. Each lever has a primary contact surface and a secondary contact surface. By depressing the primary contact surface of either lever, both levers rotate to move the bolt catch assembly from a displaced position to a static position. Conversely, by depressing the secondary contact surface of either lever, both levers rotate to move the bolt catch assembly from a static position to a displaced position.

摘要： An adjustable gas block for a gas operated firearm is provided that offers the user a means by which the volume of gas being directed to the host rifle's operating system can be adjusted. The adjustable gas block provides two positions of adjustment, with the position of use being selected based on whether or not a back pressure increasing device, such as a noise suppressor or a silencer, is mounted on the firearm. A first position provides the optimal volume of gas into the gas operating system for it to operate properly based on its factory configuration and in the absence of a back pressure increasing device. A second position is available for use when the back pressure is increased due to the presence of a back pressure increasing device. The second position exposes a port through which a portion of the volume of gas from the barrel is vented into a secondary chamber prior to being released into the atmosphere. By venting a portion of the gas into a secondary chamber, the amount of gas received by the operating system is reduced to a volume that is substantially equal to the volume of gas that would be received by the operating system in the absence of a back pressure increasing device. No tools are required to select either of the positions provided by the gas block.
