摘要： Field strength of an electromagnet is monitored at a threshold with a coupling coil positioned to monitor magnetic flux in a leg of an electromagnet. In the context of magnetic particle inspection for surface flaws (e.g. cracks) in ferromagnetic materials, sensing magnetic flux in a portion of a magnetic circuit including the material being inspected provides a continuous direct indication of whether or not the magnetic field strength produced is sufficient for reliable inspection to be performed. Since the magnetic flux in the electromagnet will be reduced with increases in reluctance of the magnetic circuit, the continuous monitoring of magnetic field strength also effectively monitors correct inspection technique by the magnetic particle inspection methodology.

摘要： A coil device for use by divers in subjecting an elongate underwater strure member to a magnetic field for inspection purposes includes a framework supporting a winding having first and second coaxial coils of predetermined coil diameter that lie in substantially parallel planes separated axially by a distance at least twice the coil diameter, the coils being electrically connected in series so as to generate magnetic fields of opposite polarity. 摘要： Apparatus for continuously monitoring the concentration of oil in a streamf water meters carbon tetrachloride through a first infrared analyzer to generate a reference signal, mixes the carbon tetrachloride with a sample stream of oily water to extract the oil, then separates and passes the oil containing carbon tetrachloride through a second infrared analyzer that is zeroed by the reference signal. The sample water stream is returned to the main flow and the carbon tetrachloride is reclaimed and recycled.

摘要： A roughness measuring tool wherein a pair of discs are mounted in spaced allel relation for rotation by a motor about a common axis with a face of only one of the discs being exposed to a layer of fluid contacting a surface to be tested. A torsionally resilient coupling beteen the discs permits rotational displacement due to a difference in hydrodynamic drag thereon. The displacement is sensed as a phase difference between signals generated by rotation of the discs and a phase signal is applied to a function generator the output of which is displayed as a figure of merit of test surface condition.
