摘要: A method for weighing mailpieces while in motion in a mailpiece weighing system. The weigh pan in the mailpiece horizontal transport path generates a signal corresponding to a weight of the moving mailpiece, and the system controller compares the weight of the moving mailpiece to a postal weight break to determine if the postal weight break is within the margin of error of the weighing mechanism. If the postal weight break is within the margin of error of the weighing mechanism, the system controller stops transport of the moving mailpiece and reweighs the mailpiece.

摘要: A method for printing indicia on mailpieces at an increased average speed. The system includes: a postal scale for determining a postage amount for a mail piece; a printer; and a postage meter responsive to the postal scale to control the printer to print an indicium representative of the postage amount. The postage meter further includes: a programmable controller; a secure mechanism for accounting for postage amounts expended; and an indicia generator. The programmable controller is programmed in accordance with the method of the present invention to: respond to a first signal from the postal scale to generate an indicium representative of the last used amount; and, if the determined postage amount equals the last used amount, respond to a second signal representative of the determined postage amount to print the indicium representative of the last used postage amount; and, if the determined postage amount is not equal to the last used postage amount, respond to the second signal to delete the indicium representative of the last used postage amount; generate an indicium representative of the determined postage amount; and print the indicium representative of the determined postage amount on the mail piece.

摘要: A printing apparatus and method to for use in a continuous high velocity mail production system, preferably for printing postal indicia. A transport path conveys a series of mail pieces at a print velocity. At least two ink jet print heads are available to perform printing operations. During normal operation, only one print head is operating at a time. To allow continuous uninterrupted operation, when a first print head is removed from service for a maintenance operation, a second print head is automatically brought into service. Adjustments to the triggering of the print cycle are made to account for the different print heads at different locations.

摘要: A dynamic registration device for a mailing system that reduces the problems of dust generation, ink smearing, and print head contact is provided. The biasing force normally applied to the back panel of a mail piece, such that the front panel maintains contact with a registration plate, is controlled by an actuator such that the force can be removed when the printing module is not performing the actual printing process. Thus, the biasing force can be applied only when the print head is actually printing and the biasing force can be removed once printing has been completed. In other embodiments utilizing multiple printing modules, when one of the printing modules is inactivated, the biasing force can be removed, and the mail pieces pass through the inactive printing module without being registered against the top registration plate.

摘要: A casino table poker game where all cards are dealt face-up and the dealer plays a hand. Players each place an ante wager and are initially dealt a partial face-up poker hand and the dealer is dealt a complete face-up poker hand. If the dealer's poker hand meets or exceeds a kick out threshold, the dealer folds her poker hand. The kick out threshold can vary based on the number of players in the game. Then, from lowest to highest rank of partial face-up poker hands, players can fold or pay an additional wager to receive additional cards to complete their face-up poker hand. The pot is awarded to the dealer or player with the best poker hand according to a predetermined set of poker game rules.

摘要: In methods and systems that may facilitate detecting abnormal operation in a process plant, values of a process variable are analyzed to determine whether they significantly deviate from expected values. If there is a significant deviation, an indicator may be generated. Analyzing the process variable may include, for example, utilizing a plurality of thresholds determined based on statistics of the process variable. Analyzing the process variable may also include, for example, determining whether a first number of values of the process variable are in a first region, and whether a second number of values are in a second region.

摘要: A system for measuring flow of process fluid through process piping in an industrial process includes a flow restriction element in the process pipe. A first differential pressure transmitter is configured to measure a first differential pressure across the flow restriction element in response to flow of process fluid. A second differential pressure transmitter configured to measure a second differential pressure in the process fluid across the flow restriction element. Circuitry performs diagnostics based upon the first differential pressure and the second differential pressure.

摘要: In a mailing machine, an image element included in a postage meter indicium printed on a mail piece is transported past a linear image capture device. The image capture device is operated to produce a smeared image of the image element. The smeared image is then automatically analyzed to detect failures in the print elements of a postage meter that is part of the mailing machine.

摘要: A system and method for detecting abnormal operation of a hydrocracker includes a model to model the hydrocracker. The model may be configurable to include one or more regression models corresponding to different operating regions of the portion of the hydrocracker. The system and method may also determine if a monitored temperature difference variable deviates significantly from the temperature difference variable predicted by the model. If there is a significant deviation, this may indicate an abnormal operation.
