摘要: A lock nut threadably engageable and lockingly retainable about a threaded shaft extending through a workpiece, the lock nut having at least one deformable slot disposed on a side portion thereof and disposed transversely relative to the lock nut bore axis, the lock nut also having a nut deforming member protruding from a bottom end thereof, wherein at least a portion of the nut deforming member is in substantial axial alignment with the deformable slot. The lock nut is undeformed prior to installation thereof about the threaded shaft. The nut deforming member is engageable with the workpiece to deform the lock nut upon threadably installing the lock nut about the threaded shaft, thereby retaining the lock nut thereabout, whereby the lock nut has a relatively consistent torque performance with reduced statistical spread over several installation and removal cycles of the nut about the threaded shaft. The nut deforming member is an annular portion of the skirt disposed peripherally on the bottom end of the lock nut, which may have a substantially countersunk surface. The lock nut may alternatively include a spring washer rotatably coupled thereto.

摘要: The grommet assembly includes a grommet head and a pin. The pin includes longitudinal guide channels and an enlarged head which may include undercuts formed immediately underneath the enlarged head. The grommet head includes grommet segments secured radially by radial bands with a nose band forming the tip of the grommet head. An aperture is formed between the grommet segments, with guide ridges formed on the interior arcuate walls to engage said longitudinal guide channels. The aperture further includes inwardly ramped surfaces which are forced apart by the enlarged head of the pin during insertion. Thereafter, in the fully installed position, the inwardly ramped surfaces engage the undercuts formed beneath the enlarged head.

摘要: The rings of a loose leaf ring binder are selectively locked and unlocked by a locking member which travels within a slot on the spine of the ring binder. The leaf springs of the loose leaf ring binder have notches formed below a portion of the slot. Therefore, when a W-shaped locking prong of the locking member is aligned with the notches, the leaf springs can freely flex upwardly and downwardly allowing the rings of the loose leaf ring binder to open and close. However, when the W-shaped locking prong is not aligned with the notches, the W-shaped locking prong is urged against the leaf springs thereby maintaining the leaf springs in a downward position thereby locking the rings of the loose leaf ring binder in a closed position. The locking member further includes a locking tab to maintain the locking member within a locked position within the slot.
