摘要: The invention may be embodied as a fingerprint scanner having an ultrasonic wave detector, a platen, an ultrasonic wave generator located between the detector and the platen. The invention may be embodied as a method of scanning a finger. One such method includes providing a platen, a detector and a generator, the generator being placed between the platen and the detector. A finger may be provided on the platen, and an ultrasound wave pulse may be sent from the generator toward the finger. The wave pulse may be reflected from the finger, and received at the detector. The received wave pulse may be used to produce an image of the finger.

摘要: The invention includes methods, systems and devices for authenticating transactions. A method may begin by enrolling at least two biometric specimens to a database. A false acceptance ratio (“FAR”) is determined for each of the specimens, and authorization options are identified. A cost value is calculated for at least one of the options to provide a calculated cost value (“CCV”). The CCV may be a function of the FAR(s) of the specimen(s) corresponding to the option. An acceptable cost value range (“ACV range”) may be identified, and compared to the CCV. If it is determined that the CCV is in the ACV range, then the option is selected. If the CCV is in the ACV range, then a set of biometric samples is provided (the “sample set”). The sample set is compared to the biometric specimens, and it is determined whether the biometric samples match the biometric specimens. If the biometric samples match the biometric specimens, then the transaction is authorized.

摘要: The present invention includes a method of deciding whether a data set is acceptable for making a decision. A first probability partition array and a second probability partition array may be provided. A no-match zone may be established and used to calculate a false-acceptance-rate (“FAR”) and/or a false-rejection-rate (“FRR”) for the data set. The FAR and/or the FAR may be compared to desired rates. Based on the comparison, the data set may be either accepted or rejected. The invention may also be embodied as a computer readable memory device for executing the methods.

摘要: A method of income validation and evaluation for income risk assessment is disclosed in one embodiment. The method includes receiving a borrower loan request including a plurality of borrower data selected from the group consisting of: an employment type code, a borrower date-of-birth, a borrower zip code and a stated monthly income. The method further includes analyzing the received plurality of borrower data with respect to a stored plurality of borrower data to generate a normalized plurality of borrower data, implementing, if the stated monthly income is non-zero, an income fraud model utilizing at least the normalized plurality of borrower data including the employment type code, the borrower date-of-birth and the borrower zip code to determine an income fraud score based on the normalized plurality of borrower data, implementing an income estimation model utilizing at least the normalized plurality of borrower data and an age-band to determine a predicted income, and determining a risk assessment value as a function of the income fraud model and the income estimation mode.

摘要: An electrosurgical medical device and method for creating thermal welds in engaged tissue. In one embodiment, at least one jaw of the instrument defines a tissue engagement plane carrying a variable resistive body of a positive temperature coefficient material that has a selected decreased electrical conductance at each selected increased temperature thereof over a targeted treatment range. The variable resistive body can be engineered to bracket a targeted thermal treatment range, for example about 60° C. to 80° C., at which tissue welding can be accomplished. In one mode of operation, the engagement plane will automatically modulate and spatially localize ohmic heating within the engaged tissue from Rf energy application across micron-scale portions of the engagement surface. In another mode of operation, a variable resistive body will focus conductive heating in a selected portion of the engagement surface.

摘要: Various embodiments provide a standardized way to interact with and extend instant messaging applications. A platform is provided and enables developers and other third parties to create extensions for instant messaging applications. Through a set of APIs, interacting applications or plug-ins are “sandboxed” in their own areas where they are unable to perform unpermitted or unauthorized actions. The plug-in platform or architecture is integrated with the platform of the instant messaging application and can allow developers to create plug-ins that can interact with a local user and their buddies. Any number of various types of plug-ins can be developed and incorporated into the instant messaging application in a standardized manner.

摘要: The guard is formed of moldable, flexible material and has a number of wheel-receiving wells formed in an in-line configuration in its upper wall. The forward and rear edges of each well are located high enough to prevent a wheel from rolling forward or rearward within the well. Laterally extending grooves are formed in the wells to minimize forward and backward movement of the wheels within the wells while the side walls of the wells contact the side walls of the wheels in order to minimize lateral movement.
