摘要: An improved photographic element comprises a support bearing at least one silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a hydrazide compound that functions as a scavenger for oxidized developing agent. The hydrazide compound includes an electron-withdrawing and aqueous-solubilizing group on an aromatic ring linked to the carbonyl of the hydrazide group and a ballasting group on an aromatic ring linked to a nitrogen atom of the hydrazide group. Preferably, the hydrazide compound is incorporated in a photographic element which comprises a four-equivalent 5-pyrazolone magenta-dye-forming coupler.

摘要: A non-infrared sensitized low silver photographic element with a non-light sensitive layer, preferably an antihalation layer, containing a diphenylaminocyclopentene heptacyanine benzothiazolium infrared dye where the benzothiazolium groups have electron-withdrawing substituents on the phenyl ring and solubilzed alkyl groups on the nitrogen. The infrared dye can be present as a liquid-crystalline dispersion. This class of infrared dyes form J-aggregrated species in a liquid-crystalline or a solid particle dispersion with high IR density and low visible absorbance.

摘要: An improved photographic element comprises a support bearing at least-one silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a hydrazide compound that functions as a scavenger for oxidized developing agent. The hydrazide compound comprises at least one polyhydroxy aromatic nucleus or a precursor thereof and at least one moiety containing an ##STR1## group which is bonded to a ring carbon atom of the polyhydroxy aromatic nucleus or precursor thereof through a linking group. The linking group can be an oxy, thio, sulfinyl, sulfonyl or alkylene group or it can be a carbonyl group when the polyhydroxy aromatic nucleus comprises at least three hydroxyl groups.

摘要: This invention relates to a multilayer silver halide photographic element, generally processed with phenylenediamine based developer solutions, comprising a support bearing a cyan dye image-forming unit comprised of at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one cyan dye-forming coupler, a magenta dye image-forming unit comprising at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one magenta dye-forming coupler, and a yellow dye image-forming unit comprising at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one yellow dye-forming coupler, wherein at least one layer additionally contains a 2-substituted-5-amino-1-napthol DIR according to Formula (I): wherein: X is chosen from among hydrogen, halogen atoms, an alkyl group with 6 carbon atoms or less or a N-substituted carbamoyl group where the N substituent is either an alkyl group with 6 carbon atoms or less or an aryl group with 8 total carbon atoms or less; R is a carbonyl or sulfonyl group; and INH is an inhibitor of silver development. It has been found that such 2-substituted-5-amino-1-napthol based DIRs have improved properties and can provide a conventional silver halide photographic element with excellent image structure and color reproduction.
